I think it actually looks decent in the videos from the auto show, not so much in the official release pictures tho. I have a hard time believing it'll be much if any faster than a Z4, but hopefully we see em hit the track come late summer/fall.

It does seem like this should be called something other than a supra, perhaps celica or something, but not supra. It's too much BMW to carry on that name IMO.

Seems like the maintenance/dealer experience would be crazy difficult given just how different these brands appear on the surface..I guess time will tell. Did BMW just give up all their IP on the electronics/mechanicals to make this all work?

Good news is this is the best Toyota infotainment yet!

Surprising how light it is with all the tech and safety equipment that's required. Not sure if this is lighter or heavier than the Z4 and what the 0-60 is on that? The MZ40i has more power. We will have to wait for the MZ4 with S55 or S58, that will be the track monster everyone is waiting for, no one will even pay attention to the Supra when that lands.

Honestly I have a hard time wrapping my head around people on a BMW forum speaking poorly about Toyota using parts supplied from BMW.

I actually wish this were a branded BMW with the full 382hp. I guess BMW tried to save money by partnering and Toyota did it’s best to chinch out by only providing trunk, hood and airbag Toyota badges.

Actually, I’d like it better if it were a badged BMW. What I’m disappointed in is that I guess I was expecting Toyota to do something unique with the underpinnings and they essentially did nothing....that’s what I’m irritated by. It’s like they couldn’t be bothered and the want to charge you $50k for it. If it were BMW, I’d consider paying $60k as weird as that seems.

Don’t forget that the extra weight in the Z4 probably has to do with extra metal used to protect the occupants since it’s a convertible and try to stiffen the chassis since there’s no top.

Step 1: Release new Supra
Step 2: Price it within spitting distance of M2C
Step 3: ???
Step 4: M2 lives on another generation as a manual due to strong sales after release of new Supra

Considering you can get a used M2 in the very low $40ks, why would you just do that?

M2C has the nicer engine. Maybe get a refurbished one in a few months, though I don't see many people unloading these soon unless they're leasing and want the next best thing so they pay off the lease ( or let you just takeover the rest of the lease)

Toyota really can't get away from that new Lexus styling and it's exhausting. If you would have told me this was a new LC model, I'd have believed it. Even telling me it was a redesigned FRS I'd believe that. Either of those over the 'mkv supra'

Yeah, 1,100 extra pounds over a 5 Star rated ND Miata should net you something.

Hope all the internet hate transfers to sales, so they are offered at a discount. But I have a feeling that won't happen, reviewers are going to like the car. I see Chris Harris doing skids already.

I have no idea if this car is going to be good, but the Supra was not that great and the 2JZ is also way overrated.

There is no room in the automotive industry to produce a "legend" like that anyway. They have optimized every bit of the process, so engineers can't sneak in goodies.
Because they like me own a car that is only appreciating in value and this travesty soon to be a flop will not hurt my cars value in any way.

Supra was not only great but the greatest cat of its generation and no engine comes close to the earned legendary status of the 2j. Especially hilarious not so great and overrated coming form a bmw owner of all people.

Sure there is room, if there was not the LFA Hellcat Raptor ex would have never been made.

Cuz they like to drop a 2JZ into everything, its like the LS1 here in the US

Stock for stock, that motor makes less power than the B58.
It's also way heavier. Iron block vs aluminum.
Wiring would be a nightmare.

So what do you gain? The privilege of spending even more money to make it have more power than the B58? Clout? Being able to sleep tight knowing your Supra has a 2JZ?

I think it’s a bit different cooperating with Suburu. I was just talking to a Supra lover who has the opinion that BMWs are only for showing off in parking lots. It’s a matter of pride, and Toyota lovers can’t believe that Toyota wasn’t able to build them their halo-ish car. I kinda think it’s hilarious.

A great breakdown. Car continues to look very striking, to me. The more I see, the more I want.

The English here was a bit sketchy so I couldn't make out what you said but if you only aim to buy cars that appreciate in value then all I can do is lol.

You ever drive any of them or do you scooter around town?
