What an "absolutely fantastic" TV show! I don't use those words often at all. Especially with regard to 'Network TV'. There are only a couple of shows on Network TV that I even watch and none of them are Dramas or even close in scope to EMPIRE. This show is simply put: Raw and Engaging! It touches on subject matter that ANY demographic can relate to and has characters that are: strong, emotional, fun, serious, and believable. Major kudos to FOX (of all networks) for hitting a home run with this. Fox requested a Second Season after only the first episode was televised due to it's astonishing ratings! I expect the other networks were completely caught off guard and will attempt to emulate this show and it's success very soon...

Ya know... I intended to watch that show but never have. Now that you say this, I will check it out and see...

Yeah I don't have enough time for all of these shows. I do Better Call Saul, Walking Dead, Homeland, Masters of Sex, and other stuff like American Pickers. Maybe I'll give this one a shot. Definitely a lot of buzz around it.

Agreed. Mostly, drama type shows in general I don't care for.

The first show that's not following people around like Pickers or HGTV that I just started watching is Breaking Bad.

Well then you're lucky like me, I didn't pick Breaking Bad until the season 5 midway break. I purchased all the Blu-Rays for seasons 1-4, and watched them within a week. It's amazing how little content shows actually have once you cut out the commercials. Watching an entire season in a day was quite easy!

For me, I loved Breaking Bad but it was also quite a disappointment for me in the end. I don't want to give it away too much for you, but Walter just never turned into the man/drug lord I wanted him to.

Better Call Saul had a good first few episodes, but the last one was really boring and I had to fight the urge to fast forward through it. Hopefully it gets back on track tonight.

As for this Empire crap, no thank you. I can't think of anything less interesting than some rap crap/hip hop mogul shit show.

They keep cancelling great SciFi shows after half a season for this crap?

On another note, I wonder if this show has enough "cop stuff" to make it survive. Then again, it has the black card pulling favor for it. Tyler Perry's bullshit survived for years for no real reason other than that.

Let's not degrade the thread with chickenshit jabs about race. I can honestly say that I don't watch jackshit on BET. Because none of it entertains me. THIS show is VERY entertaining and has a Oscar winner as the lead character and is produced by F Gary Gray who has a helluva resume under his belt:

And I can also assure you that the demographics causing this film to stomp the competition with record viewers not since Fox's HOUSE, are definitely plenty of White viewers. I know because damn near all of my friends who are white, middle 40's and six figure incomes also love the show. If it ain't for you, cool. But to say it's shit or some BS is just hating.

The one episode I saw of Empire, I thought of it as just another drama series about people with problems that don't even have a real meaning. Record label producers? They make more money than they should anyways. It's meaningless drama on fictional characters. I have stress in my own life, I don't need to watch rich people drama on TV. Show me some poor fuck trying to help his family survive..., that's interesting.
