Quote:
I had anticipated buying my youngest son a car when he returned from his gap year travels, but we've heard so many folks at his school -- administrators and other students -- say there's just no point in having one there, so he said don't bother for now. Unlike his siblings, his school isn't within driving distance from home anyway, so far be it from me to ignore my kid's request not to buy him a car. When I thought I was going to buy him a car, I considered the Lexus IS along with the BMW X1 and a couple 2 and 3 Series models. The IS seemed like a slightly better value than the BMW sedans, but I was leaning toward the X1 all the same. I don't really know what the competing alternatives are to the X1. All the best. P.S. I damn near had a coronary when my son said, "Nah, don't bother," but I didn't argue with him. That was the first time any child of mine actually didn't want me to spend big money for their convenience. Who knows...I may let my youngest live under my roof a little longer than the other two. LOL

Mustang or Porsche. Possibly Corvette but I still have that 'midlife crisis / male compensation' picture in my head and it's hard to shake.

1981 Chevette with the rare diesel engine, obviously..
(second choice would be '76 AMC Matador coupe, but I'm just not enough of a baller to pull that off)
