Has anyone else been sucked in by the ZL1?

The new ZL1 is undeniably good, this is the first American car that i have been truly excited about, excited enough to order.

I can't wait to get it to thunderhill

I went to my local Stealership to check it out. Lot of car for the money. Love the LT4 motor and brakes.

In today's episode of Ignition (Motor Trend), Randy Pobst said he'd take ZL1 over the Z06. Better chassis that's more stable and puts the power down better, plus no cooling issues.

That was a big hang up for me too, as i've have some nice cars over the years, so i went to see for myself. I was basically planning on striking the ZL1 off my list by hating the interior, not the case.

Chevy has done a good job with it. The center stack is what it is, it looks i little fisher price, but what they did that is very smart is wrap everything that you will touch on a regular basis with nicely padded alcantara, elbow rests, steering wheel, gear leaver, the recaros are very nice and red stitching dresses up the cabin nicely.

Go see for yourself, not bad, and there is a nuclear weapon under the hood.

I don't know but the Camaro interior is horrible. But opinions vary and apparently I am in the minority since there are a bagillion Camaro's at every event I attend.

Yeah I have seen one, they tried but it's kind fo like lipstick on a pig. Same for the Mustang interiors. It's too bad they don't let Recaro design the whole interior,

Fair enough, I have not seen a 2017 in the wild yet, only one in a dealership, and it was only there for about 2 days.

The '17 is head and shoulders above the previous gen. the fact the I dd a Ford Raptor right now probably helps, they are basically the same category of vehicle, inexpensive bones stuffed with cool go fast goodies, and all the tech goodies.

One of the advantages of the ZL1 for me is, I can drive the thing to work and not get shit from the dopey construction guys I deal with. I would get crap from these guys with my previous BMWs and Porsches, even when they would roll in with a $70,000 pickup.

I'll also enjoy the cheap replacement parts! Rear O.E. tires are half the price of my (sold) M5s tires.

I cant wait to see how that 10 speed auto works and handles. The new ZL1 has stepped up the game but for me, I'd take the 1LE. I can't get past the grille. It's ugly as hell. Same goes for the hood.

I've never liked the interior of the Camaro and have yet to sit in a 6th gen.

I always love how people think their 3 series or whatever interior is carved out of one of chunk of aluminum, then laid with goat leather and adorned with emeralds. Seriously, there's a ton of plastic in there, you are just in denial.

Typically, german vehicles fanboys start to trash interior quality if the opposing non-german vehicle is superior in other categories such as: performance, handling, price, fun to drive etc. This method also works when comparing german vehicle brands, for example AUDI vs. BMW… it's normal

ZL1 performance is absolutely phenomenal:

I like simple interiors. I drove and sat in the new Camaro at the international auto show and it is shit. It handled well and the V8 in the SS was a hoot. But that interior and seating placement is shit. All of my buddies who attended thought the same.

The Mustang interiors were better but still crap compared to just about everything else. But I test drove a new GT premium and it was a great driving car but still not for me. The Charger and Challenger interiors were actually vastly improved, but the cars themselves felt like boats.

Sounds like a great trade off to me. A "shit" interior, in exchange for top-notch handling, dampers, steering, brakes, transmission, rear diff, traction management system, power, torque, sound, acceleration and lap times.

Not for me since the interior is what you deal with most in a car. But if you can look past it I guess it's worth it to some.

But also I am not to keen on the exterior either. I don't hate it but I don't pay attention to them either since they are everywhere.
