Who's into watching F1?

I watched open wheel racing a lot growing up but tapered off as I got busy with being an adult or whatever, but after watching the Netflix special about last season it's kinda rekindled my wanting to watch.

So we're 24 hrs out from the first race of the season....who else is excited?

Mosey on over to the racing thread. There are threads on F1 started by myself and others. Get into the spirit!!

Will be watching. This is my first time following F1. Got pumped up for it due to the Netflix series “Formula 1: Drive to Survive.”

Not as much fun as NASCAR. Lacks the repetitive hum that is so perfect for napping on a Sunday afternoon, and the 28-car pile-ups that wake you briefly from said nap.

Pretty awesome to see that Netflix's season on F1 is getting more people interested in F1 again.

Probably makes up for all the guys who left watching the sport because they miss the V8 era.

Now that Kimi is at Sauber I guess I'm rooting for them and Ferrari this year. Who are y'all's favorite drivers/teams?

You're in for a treat. Big shakeup this year. I've been following since I was in short pants and only missed the year after Gilles Villeneuve died and the one after Ayrton Senna died. Other than that every race weekend is a sacred time for me. I watch all coverage and read as much content as possible. This is my fav sport, hands down!!

I loved the V10 era and the V8 era wasn't too bad, as well with regard to sonic ambiance.

I'm for Mercedes and Hamilton, HAAS and Grojean (I feel he's hard put upon.), Leclerc but not The Scuderia, Renault in all aspects, (again hard put upon.), Kimi since he's back at Alfa Romeo-Sauber, and the Macca's.

In addition to those, this should be an exciting year!!

You need to come over to NorCal so we can have some beer and watch a race together one of these days.

Absolutely. We have watch parties for about half of the races at an English pub here in town. It's really good fun and the guys are pretty knowledgeable fans.

Yeah he's had it hard. Getting well paid for 10 years in F1 despite relentlessly binning the car and failing to capitalise when in a good position in races.

he's fucking terrible, first guy i'd fire on the grid outside of Stroll.

Your opinion.

He's fast as crap but has to get his head right. Too sensitive, absolutely but faster than all but a few guys on the grid. That's why he's still there in hope that he can be properly dialed in.

He's been scoring more points, yes but faster...no. Grojean has better one-lap pace than Magnussen.

I follow it but I'm not a diehard fan. In other words, I don't watch every race. I'm hoping to make it to Monza this year for the Italian Grand Prix. I also need to peep this Netflix piece everyone is raving about.

So, how many of you actually go to races?

The idea of going to Long Beach for GP, I can't imagine being able to see much other than a blur every 30 seconds or so?

Been to 2 of the races in Montreal and they were awesome. I highly recommend it. Get a seat at a good set of turns, walk around, have some fun!

Except last year because my son was born literally days from the LBGP last year, I've gone every year for I believe the last 8 years??? Can't recall, I used to live in Long Beach for a long time, take a taxi over and sit at Islands Restaurant and get plastered, then taxi home.

Yes, there is a 30 second lull where nobody is going by, but that's where you shove the beer in your face, take another bite of your food and enjoy.
