Safely cleaning OEM G20 Jet Black rims
Looking for feedback on safe products.
They are completely glossy/clearcoated(?) jet black. I have the general purpose Mothers' wheel cleaner which states it's safe for all clearcoated and factory painted wheels. Has anyone used this product? I've used exclusively for many years on my previous BMWs, but those were not black rims. Thanks! |

Never use them, but reading many reviews and in my opinion especially for German Vehicles, I use Sonax wheel cleaner or the Wheel Cleaner sometimes from the BMW dealership. My rims are the 791M Bi Colour.

Just use soap and water, take your time cleaning them and you will be just fine. Wheel cleaners are a little bit of a myth and they just wont do the cleaning for you.
I also recommend using soft woolie type of brushes to avoid scratching the finish. Below is a set that I use on my cars. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L3KDUD0..._kAb-DbR3FBK26

Protect your wheels with a good coating and nothing more than soap and water will be needed to clean them up. Again as suggested invest in proper wheel cleaning tools and you're set. |

I prefer CarPro iron X and then your regular car soap with a wheel brush. Oh and ceramic coating the wheels makes cleaning way easier

My normal routine is P&S Brake buster, give it a few mins, foam the wheel, rinse after a few mins, foam again then get into the wheel with my speedmaster brush, brush the tires, detail brush the lug nuts and center cap, rinse, a few sprays of Carpro Hydro2 Lite, final rinse, dry with microfiber. Finish with Chemical Guys VRP on a foam applicator to polish up the tires. Sound like a lot but it’s a 10 mins job. Wheels are dirty, don’t use any of the water, cloths, etc on any other part of the car. Every 5 washes or so I use Carpro Iron X instead of brake buster to decontaminate.
