It looks like you can't drive the GTR to the point where it posts those numbers it posts without harming your coverage under warranty. This basically states that you either drive like a bitch or you don't get covered. I wonder if they have an computer reader that can tell the dealer how it has been driven like the Lotus Elise?

that is the biggest pile of crap i've ever seen. here's 1 of the most anticipated supercars of the last 5-10 years. but don't use it, because if you use it and it breaks, we won't cover it. sad.

BTW, if BMW techs were getting simple things like the transmission fluid wrong, I wonder how the Nissan techs that typically service Altimas and Murano's will handle servicing a GTR. Things might be ok in Japan where they have been servicing Skylines and GTR's for years, but over here I'm not so optimistic.

the main thing in there is that you can't turn off VDC (traction control). on the M3 using launch control voids the warranty also, though.

I can't see how a warranty can be voided if they are equipped the car with the ability to turn off the very thing that will void it. Likewise, I can't see how using the launch control on an M3 will also void it's warranty.

Excessive usage of anything could possibly cause warranty problems but not occasional use.

When I ordered my e92 DCT they told me that my warranty will be voided if I use launch controle during my break it period. Further they also told me that you are only allowed to use it a few times.
Why put it in a car if you are not allowed to use it?

They would have to have something in writing to even attempt to manage that request wouldn't they?

yes, I also told them that I couldnt find it anywhere on the website etc. BMW told me that when I picked up the car there should be a sticker on the window not the use launch control during break-in.
They voided someons M5 warranty because they could see, when he brought his car in, that he had used his launch controle during break-in.

Though I have never tried it I thought LC was only available after the first service.

A warranty is like a contract. You agree to the terms of the contract as written when you purchase your car. What exactly would you sue them for?

I thought only a small select number of dealers would be handling the GTR, is this not the case because I am sure I heard that this will be the way things are to be conducted here in the UK.

Way too many big brother electronics in the GTR. Might be acceptable for the Japanese market but not here.
