M3 PPF Kit Questions
Hi all,
I just called for some pricing on PPF for my incoming M3. The detailer told me that a computer will cut out the kit and there will be edges in some spots where it is more curvy and this is due to stress that can be created on the PPF in those areas to make sure it doesnt bubble or start to peel/crack. Does this seem to be true? Its hard for me to fathom paying $2200 when i can see most edges of the PPF. Curious to see if i am maybe overthinking it. Thank you! |

$2200 for the entire car or just the front?
I ended up scheduling with the shop that said they would do it by hand and said there would be almost no edges visible. Another shop also said they would do it by computer and I quickly backed out of that one. |

Your detailer should be able to show you another car on which he's applied PPF and had seam together cut lines in the pattern. Mine showed me the Ceramic Pro pattern for the G82 front bumper cover, and there are several cuts to accommodate concave surfaces. (Think of it as cutting out the overlap if you were to make a funnel out of paper or plastic.). It'll be invisible once it's applied, if done properly.
Related but different: be sure your installer wraps the edges of body panels (even if he has to order a little extra material). You don't want leading edges capturing dirt and water and becoming soiled over time. Don't worry; be happy. |

Just for the front and yes, these would be computer cut. I had the same hesitations and might back out as well. Appreciate the insight!
