I'm sure some people on this forum may be aware of this method, but I figured out how to remove the shiny/oily surfaces on the leather steering wheel (it also works for my black leather seats) and make it look like NEW!

You will need: A Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, some water, dry rag/towel

Dab the Magic Eraser in some water, and *gently* rub the shiny surfaces on your steering wheel/seat. Dry with the rag or towel.

Not sure if this will restore lighter seating surfaces, but I don't see why not.

One thing to be careful of is that the oem steering wheel leather has a coating over it that can break down and start peeling if you use the wrong stuff on it.

Not saying this method will do that but something to look out for. I use something too harsh on my F85 steering wheel and whatever coating was on the leather rubbed off and it looked horrible. Only way it could have been fixed was wrapping it with new leather. Lucky the dealer fixed mine under warranty.

Totally agree - I would VERY CAREFUL with the magic eraser as it's an abrasive and will remove your leather's top coat - it's basically a mild wet sander.

I use Colourlock's Mild Cleaner for any of the leather I've had (it's all been merino) and it's always worked - though they do have a strong cleaner if you need something more aggressive.

Here's an example, where I just used a leather brush & Colourlock's mild cleaner for 1 pass:
