Do you like Las Vegas?

I've been to Vegas probably 20+ times in my life. I believe the city has deteriorated to an extent it's not worth visiting anymore and this has been a trend the past 15 years or so.

- Gambling is insanely expensive on the Strip with $25 minimums for table games

- 'High End' restaurants which aren't even high end and charge you $75 for a filet (Delmonico's is a good example of this)

- Sports Betting is now legal in most states online. There's no point in the sports book anymore except maybe March Madness

- Clubs which charge you $1000 or more for a 'table' but you can't even get in right away and are reduced to the waiting list.

I think Vegas is ideal for one night and getting the hell out (not exactly a unique opinion) I couldn't imagine spending an entire 3 days out there.

My parents used to take junkets from NY to LV in the 1970s on Tropicana airlines. Basically comped for most everything including maybe a nominal fare for the flight..my mom played penny slots and my dad low stakes blackjack. Even if you had to buy food a full course steak dinner was probably $7.50.

Now, the crappy Seminole casinos in S FL have $25 min, with an occasional $20 off peak

I've been going 3-4 times a year since the mid 80's. Still love it. But yeah it has changed drastically, and not for the better in many ways.

Now in my mid-60's, my bestest buddy that I was going out there with all these years now lives in Henderson, so no more overpriced hotels. We hang out at South Point, which still has free parking, tons of reasonably-priced (and good) food, great sports book, etc. It's the best "mid-roller" joint in town nowadays IMHO. Really well-run operation.

Have been one time. Years ago with my kids. Probably not the best way to go. We stayed at Circus Circus. Did everything... except the prostitutes. lol

Didn't really enjoy it. Was okay. Even gambled. Did not lose a lot of money. Not stupid.

Met a celebrity. Was a basketball player from the Bulls (Michael Jordan era). Don't remember his name.

My son threw up on one of the rides. Highlight of the trip.

I've never been... might go one day just to check it out. But it's one of the very few remaining major US cities I have yet to visit.

I've gone 4 times. Three were for work and one for a friend's wedding. There are some a few nice spots. And I say few with an emphasis. My first time was in 2011. The last time was I think 2014 or 2015. Over that span, the strip has turned into a total toilet in my opinion. You can't walk a few feet without being accosted by some ass peddler trying to push some strip club flyer in your face. The sidewalks are littered with that crap. I walked by one ass trying to force a flyer into your face. I walked passed him and the ass yells something real loud at me to grab my attention. It took a lot for me not to spin around and lay four knuckle impressions across his face.

The fountains in front of the Bellagio are fun at night when they have them going with some music. I managed to find an oasis in the chaos just north of the Bellagio. It's an area near the big ferris wheel. It's an alley way between two buildings. When you go deep into it, the way you snake through cuts off all the noise from the strip. There was some restaurant/club there where they had live Jazz. The female vocalist was awesome. The restaurant/club was open air so people in the alley/sidewalk could hear clearly.

Also saw one of the Cirque shows at the MGM. That was nice.

Never saw the appeal. Have driven through multiple times, but only ever did one trip specifically to go there and the primary purpose was to see the Beatles Love show.

Quite frankly to me it's just a dump in middle of hell

Met my wife there, Rum Jungle at Mandalay Bay. On my 1st trip to Vegas.
Went back about 10 times, totally agree Tyga11 its lost its luster.
My 50th is next year and it was my dream (besides Italy) to go to but it’s quickly lost its glimmer

I've been a few times for work. I don't gamble and I'm not there to go out and party, so the nomal Vegas attractions don't appeal to me. On top of that, the city is physically dirty. It is in a dusty desert, so everything is covered in a layer of dirt than hardly ever gets washed off.

The last time I was there was last year and I decided then that I wouldn't go back.

I never wanted to go to Vegas and have probably been a dozen times now. I always have a good time but it's kind of weird. I'll probably end up there again but I'm not planning it. I don't gamble, but like the bars, people watching, some decent restaurants and a show.

I've been enough - for work, never for play. I'm not a smoker, so... indoor Vegas and I don't get along.

It remains the only place that I've seen Indoor-Hoveround-Road-Rage before, so there's that.

I’ve been a few times when u was younger and thought it was fun but never made it a must-go destination. I’d go back if my wife wanted to go but don’t care if I ever go back.

I’ve seen prime filet at $70+ in nice steakhouses I’ve been to recently in South Florida too. I don’t think that part is just Vegas.

One of at least two cities I never need to visit again; San Francisco is another one. Oops, better add Portland & Seattle to the list.

I still like Vegas, but not for any of the reasons I used to. I was a career gambler years ago, $15k nut a day. Now I don't even go to $25 tables. I came out even after a year, luckily, and lost interest. Gambling just isn't fun for me anymore. I don't sports bet. I hate clubbing. $2k roped off tables to not hear each other talk over a $200 bottle of $30 vodka and walmart OJ? No thanks. I prefer mid-range restaurants in Vegas because the pretentiousness is souring, and there is a diminishing rate of return the more high end the food is. I'd rather get great chinese food at the best dive in Chinatown than some fancy asian fusion fine dining establishment.

What do I like about it? Honestly, the drive. I love road trips, and it's just far enough to call a roadtrip (I can do it in around 3.5 hrs at the right time). It's familiar. Just never leave for LA on a sunday. That will ruin the whole trip.

San Francisco was great during pandemic. It was empty. I wish it stayed that way.

Portland has great food, but I haven't been there since before the Trump Administration drove everyone crazy. I still want to see Seattle. What was so bad about it?

I was in Vancouver just recently. Loved it there, I would go back.

I have been once and won't likely ever be back. Highlight of the trip was renting a Z4 and leaving Vegas to go to the Hoover Dam and Redrock Canyon. Hanging out on the strip was gross and honestly it just made me feel sad for people there. Everything is so take as well which creates a weird environment.

I am not really a gambler but I'll say the one time I was there 15 years ago, I had fun... probably not a place I would ever go back to unless there is a serious need for a conference or some bachelor party etc.

Miami which has also gone far down the shitter as well... is still a place i'd go to long before Vegas because there is a beach and its beautiful.

Haven't been to SEA since the "mostly peaceful protests," but last time we were there a few years ago it was heavy with homeless.
