Poll: Experienced travelers, pick the best Mexican resort!

So I'm planning a trip next month for me and my woman to burn off some steam (and money) and figured Mexico is a great bargain. I've heard good words from friends regarding places such as Rosarito, Vallarto, and Los Cabos.

Anybody else here been to any other Mexican resorts and/or suggesting any?

It depends...how old are you. I travel a lot. Out of those, I"d probably pick Riviera Maya. It has some of the most beautiful beaches on the gulf of mexico, and it is not as crowded, and is peaceful. I go through apple vacations and get the all inclusive so you do not have to worry about money on the trip. Punta Canta in the dominican republic was also really nice.

There is a mexican family that comes to eat into my resturant. This is funny you bring this up ,cause we were JUST talking about resorts in Mexico. They def said mazatlan (sp?). He told me that it was beautiful, the city was safe, and there is alot of culture and history there. He also said its not as $$ as the other spots.

trust me go to vallarta. cancun gets old fast, and i swear my long weekend there took 5 years off my life. i got so drunk the hotel security made me take a wheelchair up to my room. they would not let me walk. vallarta is so soothing and beautiful, the cliffs overlooking the ocean are amazing. its a nice place to calm down and blow off steam

Thanks for all of the tips!

@ Saosin - pretty funny you mention the alky moments - my buddies recall drinking quite a bit in Mexico as well!

@ Mag - I didn't list Ixtapa because I thought that place, although extremely beautiful, to be a bit desolate/isolated, no? From the pictures I saw the place looks really small and cozy but doesn't seem to offer much in terms of activity, shopping, massive hotels, etc. (what my woman likes).

@ Hot - My woman is in her late twenties, I'm in my mid twenties. Age really matters once you're past the legal drinking age?

@ Bella - yup, I saw the pics of Mazatlan and it looks insane!

Do not go to Mexico. With all the illegals that coming from there, why you want to boost their economy ?

Boycott everything that's Mexican until they stop coming here illegally.

Heheh, damn, kal-el! That was a harsh statement!

Note that there are plenty (and I mean plenty) of rich Mexicans who come here into the States to spend their touristy money. I'm pretty sure only the rich Mexicans are bolstered by economic benefits of tourism while the poor remains poor. With that said, it doesn't make much of a difference if Mexico lost all its tourism altogether!

Plus, Mexico is one of the cheapest resorts from where I am situated and offers perhaps the biggest bang for the buck!

Yeah...I guess you are right. It is not as big as the other places on your list. Its more of a beautiful, relaxing, location. At least...it was when I last went there. Yikes! It was almost 10 years ago!

In that case.......if you want something more city/busy stuff...then I would vote Puerto Vallarta.

Cabo San Lucas got my vote over Cancun.

I do have to agree with Ase... Aruba was my favorite travel destination for a beach atmosphere. Theres so much more to do there...

Ase, did you go offroading when you were down there? That might have been my favorite part...
