Just got it Sept 2021. Kept mostly in a garage in NYC so not overly exposed to sun or anything.

Not yet and hopefully not common. The thigh support on the passenger side front seat tightened up and too shape of what appears to be the heating elements of just the shape of the foam. It has kind of a clamshell look and is only about 3 months old. There are at least 2 poor fit/finish issues I did not expect on a vehicle at this price point and not sure if it's typical BMW (my first) or where it's assembled or a combination of the 2 or just isolated occurences. Hoping the warranty will cover something like this if it happens.

Yup I have the same issue on my 2020 X5 M50i and my 2022 M4 competition. I thinking of talking to the dealership they had others too. Seems to be a defect and should be covered under warranty. It just sucks because the whole dash would have to be repaired or replaced. And other shits could get easily broken.

I saw this post was from last year but I am having the same issue on my 2022 X5 M. Did the dealer replace the dashboard?

I have a 17' f06 and wanted to avoid this from happening on the dash board as well. Between home and work, the car is generally garage kept. I opted to install 3M 90% crystalline ceramic tint on the windshield to help reject heat and IR. This why whenever the car is out in the sun (especially in the summer months in NYC) the cabin is as cool as possible and can help prevent warping of the dash due to heat. Windows are all ceramic tinted as well. Definitely trying to preserve the leather as best as possible. You may want to consider crystalline tint on the windshield for this reason.

I had the top passenger side of the dash replaced on my 2022 M850i. There was dime sized spot that looked like something spilled on it. Attempts to clean it had black dye coming off in the rag.

It's possibly not the whole dash, depending how its constructed.

To add a datapoint to this thread, this looks worse than my F15's dash currently does after 9 years.

Had a leather dash on my F15. I live in a very hot climate and you could tell that leather dashes and VERY hot weather aren't a good match.

So for my G05, I went with a "regular" dashboard.
