Where to stay in Rome?
So I booked a nice hotel 4-star near train station because it's convenient, but now I am hearing it's the worst part of town. Any recommendations where to get hotel or some nice airbnb and how to get there from airport? (All this with a kid)

I'm not a Rome expert, but I stayed a few days at the Indigo Rome - St George and it was nice for the price. Located in a great neighborhood and walking distance to local dinning and shopping. Easy to take a taxi from the airpot for not too much. Good luck

This is a nice, local area and is a 5-10 minutes walk to Piazza Navona, a popular meeting point for locals. It’s pretty central and easy walk to other attractions in Rome. Tons of food options, and they are more authentic since it’s a local neighborhood.

I always stay next to piazza Navona? You can't go wrong.

Ok. I'll check Navona as well. So many hotels and areas, it's hard to pick. Vs separate 2 bedroom 2 bathroom luxury condo.
Any playgrounds around Navona? I see one in Trastevere and at Villa Borghese park....thats it. |

We stayed right at the top of the Spanish Steps. It was nice for Rome but that was 2007 so who knows now. Most memorable part was they give you a 6 inch, 5 pound key and you have to leave it at the front door and pick up everytime you come back.
Looks like a major renovation but I believe this is where we stayed. We were only in Rome for 2 days https://www.thecodehotelrome.com/ Last edited by Tommy-G; 12-19-2022 at 11:37 AM.. |

We stayed at Relais 6 Via Tolmino in the Trieste district. Nice hotel and quiet here with the owner having his own private collection of WW2 memoralibia in the rear garden which he's happy to open up and show to guests.

Tip. DON'T let the guys dressed as Roman Centurions outside the Colosseum take your pic with them as they may charge quite a lot, like a 100 euro's lot.

We have done several stays at the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora. Not far from Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain. But I am a heavy duty Marriott customer, so I always look for their brand wherever I go.

Flora is a bit too expensive, it's like $600 per night. I wanna stay at $400 or lower

We stayed by the Piazza del Popolo and thought it was a great location. I believe it was called the River Palace.

We stayed here - it was clean and quiet and decently located to everything.
The bathrooms were particularly spacious and nice. https://www.demetrahotelrome.com/?fb...vHCkrxKYJvQzDI |

Lots of good Airbnb options in Rome. Last time we were there, we booked this cool place that was right in the middle of things in Trestevere and at a very affordable price.

Playgrounds for the children? There are a lot of nonofficial playgrounds, but I believe there are quite a few other playgrounds in there. My kiddos always identify them.

Stayed at an independent hotel about a five minute walk from Romes central station in 2017. It was a good experience and the centre of Rome was fine, best short break ever. Three days of sightseeing was about right.
