BMW F90 M5C LCI - Xpel Stealth PPF - poor quality? What should I do?

This was a $7,000 job on a brand new 2023 BMW F90 M5C LCI

A few panels have debris under the film, they managed to slit the seal on both head lights that are $3,500 each, and several others have bubbles.

It’s now been 3 weeks — part of me is hesitant to even go back there if it’s as bad as I think it is…

TLDR; it’s my first time getting PPF on car unsure of the quality and how to move forward from here

Looks like a sh!t job to me. Definitely take it back and have them redo or fix the issues. Curious how long they let it cure or when you picked up the car from when they said it was done.

Also the headlight issue, they should be taking care of if they damaged it.

I’m not going to sugar coat this. That’s the worst job I’ve seen.

Have you disputed the charge and hired an attorney?

Have you ever Fries to dośpiewa charge for service? Its major PITA.
Few years ago I had over $10K engine job screwed up by the shop. Tried to dispute charge with credit card. It was Master Card from Citi. They had stubbornly insisted that the charge is not possible to dispute unless I return items to the merchant… now try to return parts that were used for engine rebuild.

If there're not willing to cooperate with you or do the right thing, the worst thing you can do to them is social media. Bad review, with pictures, spread the word and throw it out there what crap job they've done. That impacts future business and with the markets competition, its a blow to the company. At the very least, others won't have to go through a bad experience thanks to your review and evidence.

That's pretty bad. I wouldn't take it back there - they clearly don't have the skillset needed to do it properly.

Is it mainly the door handles or the other areas as well? The guy told me “door handles are tough”

Looks like the same people from ceramic pro that did a hack job on my car. Ended up having to file a demand letter, waiting on response.

I went back they said they’ll re do the whole car. That said IDK how I feel about taking my car back and having them redo it especially since removal puts the paint at risk.

Filed a demand letter last week. They offered me 4k settlement after everything so had to go legal route.

So you’re out 3k? I don’t think they need to redo the whole car but only the panels that are damaged. Maybe check other shops and see what they quote you for repair. I would really want to go back there.

Not the worst I've seen, but its very bad. This is classic cookie cutter PPF. Nothing custom going on there. NorCalAthlete has some interesting pictures of a PPF job.

What’s an appropriate resolution for a $7,000 job?

For that kind of money, the only way to really do it correctly, is to remove as much as you can and tuck the wrap under, to where there are no seams. Remove the door handles, remove the wing. Remove the roof rails and windshield trim, on the pillars.

Is it reasonable to tell them I appreciate their offer to re do the entire car but I’m not comfortable with them touching it again and want a refund so I can pay to have it removed and completely replaced at a qualified shop?

That is a complete fail -- not even a point for effort. They need to make this right by (1) redoing the entire car (removal of the film is not a problem at all -- if done correctly!) BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE ORIGINAL INSTALLER THAT WAS LEARNING ON YOUR CAR; OR (2) a complete refund, which includes compensation for all damaged parts as well (and they can keep the damaged parts). I would do a chargeback pending a resolution or the eventual filing of a lawsuit. I truly feel bad for you; something like this diminishes your "new care happiness period" (sadly, non-compensable).

Is a complete refund and removal, an option?
