Hi BMW enthusiasts…anyone here has any experience using both XPel AND VALLOR PPF on their cars?
I had XPel on my F83 (front only), now VALLOR (full PPF) on my G83.
I’m kind of noticing a couple differences, but really haven’t t made up my mind yet as to which might be better (of course, the G83 has had it for only a couple weeks).
What are your thoughts on these two brands?

Ive never heard of Vallor but I would take almost anything over XPEL.

Why is that?
I chose VALLOR because that is the one my installer uses (no longer using Xpel, their business model is not friendly) and I’m OK with it so far.
Had Xpel on my F83 and had no problems with it.

XPEL bullies shops into using their film exclusively through leverage on the cutting software and by buying out shops.

XPEL is difficult to install compared to other films. It doesn't stretch as much and means the install isn't always as good (more cut lines more disfiguration of the film, etc). XPEL also has a ton of orange peel compared to something like STEK. XPEL also doesn't infuse ceramic into their ultimate film. It's amusing to see people getting XPEL and then some $1000 ceramic job on top of it and being all happy about it. When you get XPEL you're paying for a subpar product that is backed by serious and sometimes predatory marketing.

I'm not surprised at all to hear your installer has dropped XPEL.

Ive have XPel on the front half and roof of my 2016 F82 for 6 years and it has held up great. Texas summers + several long road trips to Arizona and California and it still looks 99% brand new.

My installer uses SunTek. What are your thoughts on this stuff? I don’t want to get burned because of my ignorance.

My entire car is covered in suntek and ceramic coated on top. Looks great, can barely see it.

I'd use Suntek over XPEL any day. Any installer that prefers XPEL is just doing that so they can have access to the DAP cutting program. If you don't use XPEL exclusively XPEL will threaten to pull that program even though installers pay a monthly fee for it.

Again XPEL is a shady company that offers a less durable film with less clarity, less pliability in install and no ceramic infusion. I'm not trying to offend anyone who has It but I'm not sure why anyone uses it.

I've got Gyeon Protect+ on my X5.

If you can find it, check out Clearguard by Prestige films. Its the most optically clear film I've seen, it just gives the car a deeper gloss without any texturing. Self healing without heat source. I've had it on my car for 6+ years now and it still looks amazing. I've had to change windshields twice in that time due to stone chips, but my front bumper still looks new.

Spot on with the explanation my installer gave me.
So far, so good with VALLOR.
Never made sense to me either paying for a ceramic coating after putting on a PPF.

I've learned quite a bit on this thread haha. I had XPEL on my S4 and I actually really liked it. The self-healing nature of the product is what led me to install it at the time, but the product is really expensive compared to others out there.

This is the first I've heard regarding the bullying of shops, etc., but I've heard other negative things about them so I guess it's not that surprising. My e92 already had chips when I purchased it and it's mainly used for a canyon/track car, so I haven't bothered with PPF on this one.

Will look into VALLOR!

Xpel sure gets good reviews. It was installed on my car. Looks great.
I could give 2 sh*ts about their business model. They're not the only company with a business model as such. I wouldn't call them shady. They have an excellent product. The installer I used in Bonita Springs has an excellent reputation. He is booked at least 2 months out and does work on cars that cost multiples of my 340i. He uses Xpel. That is the reason why it is on my car. I cannot even tell the difference between the areas with PPF and the parts without it.

XPEL ultimate for the win. I honestly have not heard about the other but I’m a one time 3m scotch guard and 2 time XPEL in that order.

I have Xpel on the entire front end of our family SUV. custom cut, no DAP. looks great. My cousin has suntek on the front end of his M3. From what i can see, the suntek appears to have more gloss and less "orange peel."

From shopping around, Xpel shops charge a few hundred more. Is that because of the DAP? I'm pretty meticulous, but in the end, any of these PPFs will work for me.

Any one have any experience, good or bad, with LLumar PPF?
