Does PPF eventually crack after years from sun?
Someone told me that PPF will eventually crack from sun and the edges will start to get dirt. Does anyone have knowledge on this?
I just got my first rock chip on my 2 week old brand new X5 and was looking into PPF but now I am not too sure. We keep our cars forever. |

Quality PPF has solid warranties. I believe Xpel is a 10 year warranty?
As for the dirt/grime buildup, if the film is tucked properly then it won’t be an issue. |

I also agree about your comment regarding dirt/grime buildup and having the PPF installed properly. |

Current PPF offerings are much better and even offer self healing properties. It’s kind of nice especially if you clean up an area and slightly marr the PPF, simply letting it sit in the sun will take scratches out.

As with what others have said before, modern PPFs actually need the sun and heat to self heal. Most of the well known brands all do this.
Just don't do 3M. They haven't changed a damn thing.

Almost daily now a new thread on the subject comes out. Why do you think this is?
OP probably in just the last four or five pages of this sub forum there are no less than eight threads on the subject of PPF that are filled with a ton of information, including debates from people who don’t think it’s necessary with those who think it’s kind of necessary and those like myself who will never own another high-end car without it. Debates on the different brands of PPF, prices, and longevity. You don’t even have to use the search bar. Just go back a few pages. I bet you in literally 10 minutes of reading you’ll know 10 times more about PPF and Ceramic Coating then you know now. I knew a lot about it, and I know even more because other members here passed on information to me I was unaware of. Anyway, good luck. |

I have Xpel Ultimate 10 on my cars. And if anything happens they replace the affected area under warranty. Or so they say. Haven’t had a claim yet.

I'm interested to know more. I've had nothing but great results with Xpel. To the point that I won't use and installer if they use other films. Do I have it all wrong? What film do you prefer and why? I only have one other film to compare against--Premium Shield which I thought was trash.
