http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la...0.story?page=1
I'm beginning to feel sorry for you guys on the West Coast. Funding will be frozen until further notice. I hope you guys find a solution real quick.

Just be glad you don't live in a state that requires a 2/3rd legislative majority to pass any budget containing a tax increase, but only a simple majority to pass a decrease. Sounds good before you think about it, but you can guess the results.

so are people that rely on welfare checks going to be allowed to delay their payments for utilities and rent? it's not fare that the state government can just delay payments while everyone else will be forced to pay on time. i hope they allow people to cash those IOUs.

I'm happy to see this - finally a state that is going to deal out the hardships to its entitlement populous. Its quite simple. Less money coming in - less benefits for those who contribute next to nothing to society.

And more crime coming from those who contribute next to nothing to society. Believe it or not, but welfare checks protect the rich too.

wow, i know a lot of people who rely heavily on grants to get through school. the thing is, there are some who really deserve the assistance and others who shouldnt have even been accepted in the first place.

For me, this is a serious thing. I am a state worker and we managers have already been informed that I.O.U.'s may be coming if nothing is done to help the budget situation out.
I have saving my cash as I don't know if and when I'll see a paycheck that is cashable. I hope the banks will honor the I.O.U.'s and will just collect from the state when money is available (plus interest). So, I'm paying bills using my home equity line of credit (HELOC) for now. It's at a 3.5% APR so that is way low. I don't mind paying the low interest on it and pay it off when the state budget situation changes for the better. This is a very real situation and it sucks that people just make fun of the situation when they have absolutely no clue how this affects them.

when i said welfare i was talking about people that legitimately need it not those on welfare who drive 50k dollar cars. times are shit as they are so if you have a real idea on how to get these people off of welfare do share. what about the elderly that rely on social security benefits? should they too get off of those?

Good thing:
1) I live at home 2) I don't really spend my money. I wasn't liking the bit about Arnold "relax(ing) some environmental rules." |
