Question Driver side Mirror question

Has anyone experienced a driver side mirror issue. It seems that every year when the weather starts getting colder the heated glass/self-dimming feature breaks. I start driving and then all of a sudden, the mirror goes dark, and it looks like ants are making a new home. (looks like underground ant tunnels) I have replaced the mirror twice. could it be an electrical or connector/port problem? any advice? It's a 2018 X2 xDrive28i

Hmm. I haven’t had that problem with any of my BMWs.

I heard a self-dimming glass went black ("burnt", permanently) when the connectors were mixed up.
