I'll go first...some 13 years ago I built this curbside(no engine) 1/24 Aoshima RX-7 made to appear as if tuned by Alpina. Entered it in the 1994 GSL International Model Car Show where it won it's category and Best Paint. In my machine shop, I made the wheels, interior bits, plus many chassis goodies, whole thing took but 28 days, a real speed build for me. The intercooler is mostly photo-etched bits globbered together to look the part. Oh, BTW, this wasn't the first model I've ever built.
Have a couple more cars but now concentrate on military subjects.

Absolutely stunning. Fantastic work!!! (though it would handle better with a little more front camber and lose the staggered wheels  )
I can't believe you can do that quality work in 28 days. |

Thanks. Making the fiddly-bits is a snap as I have been a prototype aerospace machinist/mold-maker for over 30 years. Even have a shop at home, for some years I was self-employed making patterns-for plus providing product-to many scale model after-market companies. Here's my shop...

For years I worked on the military side having produced Star Wars(SDI) components during the research period, radar-guided gunsights for the Phalanx turrets, electrical connections for the Space Shuttle, all sorts of stuff along those lines, nowdays, I work for a helicopter company, you may have seen these...

Yea, I've talked to a lot of Erickson Crane guys... nice copter. I've only got a little time working on choppers, and even less flying them (like .5 hours.... heh).
Sounds like very interesting work during your military days... I would like to get into military aircraft work/design... always cutting edge. EDIT: Hey are those configured for fire bomber duties? |

Jim,
Those photos are the fire-bombing config, the tank holds 2,500 gallons and can be filled in about 30 seconds.

Beautiful...
I worked (and still volunteer) next door to Wipaire, South St. Paul, where they are building the FireBoss (a little competition for you). I bet those Helos can be a little more effective though, being able to hover over a target fire... neat |

I wonder if he has a girlfriend with the amount of time he spends working on his models?

I finally got around to getting pictures of my little dream car that I built. Took me a while, it came in tons of little pieces- even had to glue in the seatbelts!
My dream the Shelby Cobra Roadster 427 I have a few others (1958 Vette, The "Richard Petty" Superbird, 1970 GTO Judge, 69 Chevelle SS, 1969 AMX, a couple Impala's etc. )... This one though is my doll. <3
