(Fixable?) New paint job: what do you think?
Hello everyone!
So, I just got my car painted and I'm not sure what to think of it. Maybe I do, it's not great.. I bought the car for a very fair price because it had some damage on the front driver-side door and fender (Picture 1). So I decided to look for a good repair & paint shop to fix the car. But the result is not great in my opinion, what do you think? (Picture 2/3/4). Now I know that silver is very difficult to get right, and that it's almost impossible to get it perfect. But at the same time I do think that it can be done better than this. What do you think? And is this fixable? Thanks. Silvers are hard to match, but it looks too dark. They didn't do a very good job of blending it. Every color will have some kind of shade variance, and plastic and metal will never match.. but yeah i wouldn't say that's a good color match.
With that said, i've seen MUCH worse. You paid for it, take it back and bring it to their attention |

Having owned a shop that did the work for the local Mercedes dealer, we've painted more than a few silver cars. IMO with out seeing it in person this is not too bad and given the choice between increasing paint thickness in hope of a better match or living with what you have, I'm likely to take the latter. But only your opinion matters.

Honestly I would’ve just done PDR and buff out as much as possible. As for how good/bad that paint match is, it’s a bit hard to tell in that lighting but I agree it looks tad dark.

Difficult to tell from the lighting in the pictures. To me, it looks like the rear door is lighter than the rest of the car. It’s probably poor color blending of the front door and it’s the front door that’s actually a little darker. Either way, based on the pictures and lighting, it’s not that bad.

FWIW I can't see a difference.
