The new M5 comes with a host of luxury features as standard; one of them is the Sky Lounge Panoramic Roof. This consists of a fixed glass panel that stretches from behind the windscreen to the rear window (nearly 90 percent larger than a traditional tilt-and-slide sunroof). The result is a cabin flooded with natural light, with a powered roller blind to provide shade when required. If you are looking to reduce the weight of your M5 and optimize performance, the sunroof can also be replaced with the M Carbon roof, which brings the car’s total weight down by 66 lbs |

This new gen M5 gets very mixed feelings. Drove fully packed i5 M60, and I missed premium quality feeling in the interior.
Even back then F11 or G31 felt more premium. And was really excited about touring G99. Now, a bit less. Saw the spy shots, renders and knew which powertrain it's gonna have while back ago. After reveal I can write 10 points why it is worse or what bugs me out: - no massage seats - lack of interior leather option colors (should come more on March 2025 - no full leather option - highest sound system is downgraded (now B&W is same as Harman Kardon) - no soft close doors - only front doors is comfort access - too much gimmicks like red accents everywhere. I don't need to make sporty wagon as a race car with that red 12 o'clock stripe. - infotainment is same as base series with M graphics? - that shiny black leather accents, just looks cheap anf fake). Where's more one tone seat options? - don't really like different wheel sizes. I would sacrifice handling a bit for then about the looks Don't care about the weight, still think that G99 would be great daily driver (who likes wagons, not SUV's) and hope that BMW will update some issues in the future. |

The car is so damn heavy they had to throw everything at it, just to compensate for a failed concept. The hate this car is getting is amazing.
I believe it will do better than the 4 pot C63, but not by much. |

“The wheels? You’re going to spend an additional €550 to have that Style 952 M design with a bi-color finish. Inside, the red/black Merino leather costs another €550 while the carbon fiber dashboard trim is €400. a €22,470 Ultimate Package that bundles no fewer than 10 items. You get some high-end goodies such as carbon-ceramic brakes and a carbon roof. In addition, the pricey pack encompasses the M Driver’s Package and an anthracite headliner wrapped in Alcantara. Other items include the Driving Assistant Professional, massaging front seats, and rear sun blinds. To sweeten the pot, BMW adds the rear heated seats, Parking Assistant Professional, and the Travel & Comfort System. The latter lets you attach a smartphone or a tablet to the back of the front seats, which have a built-in USB-C port.”

Was driving my loaded F10 this past weekend. I gotta say I was really enjoying my massage seats, soft close doors, Full Leather Interior, and Bang & Olufsen system. I was in a state of motoring perfection even as I was just standing still in traffic. It will still be good to drive the G90 around as my daily driver though, even without all of the amenities.

Here’s my list:
10 Things better than the F90/F10: 1. M-Hybrid System: I think a lot of people don’t realize that Turbo Lag is now a thing of the past. As in BMW M has now solved Turbo Lag. We will now get reponsiveness just like S85 V10 used to have. This will be so very nice! 2. Rear Wheels Steering: Although the system adds weight, it definitely makes the car more agile. 3. The car still has a V8: V8’s are not too much longer for this world. Get one while you still can. 4. The G90 M5 will have an upgraded steering system designed by M. If you have driven the G60 already, you know that the steering feel on the G60 is practically non-existent. I never appreciated the G20 steering enough until I drove the G60. I’m hoping M Division has improved the steering system enough on the G90 to actually get some feeling and not just accuracy. 5. 2WD: The G90 still has the 2WD mode for the M xDrive system allowing us to answer the all important question of “but will it drift?” 6. Chassis Rigidity: It looks like M Division has done quite a lot to make the chassis rigid enough to probably be even more rigid than the F90 despite the gain in weight. 7. Improved Cooling: As the original article states, the new cooling systems on the G90 are quite robust. We shouldn’t see a lot of degradation on power with higher OAT’s and Density Altitudes. 8. Trunk Space. The G90 still has quite of bit of trunk space even with the batteries. 9. All Electric Range: In some markets around the world the G90 M5 is cheaper to buy than other ICE M models because of the hybrid system. And I’m sure some people will appreciate being able to drive 25miles without turning on the engine. 10. Styling: In some ways the G90 looks better than the F90/F10, in other ways it seems worse. I personally like the diffuser and exhaust tips. All the ways the G90 is worse than the F90/F10: 1. Obviously the weight penalty. 2. No soft close doors 3. No Premium Sound System option 3. No Full Leather option for now 4. No side fender vents/grilles 5. No bespoke Colors 6. No bespoke Sideview Mirrors 7. No physical buttons to control steering, suspension, and throttle response 8. No center console transmission shifter 9. Possibly no Massaging Seats 10. Almost no bespoke Interior. Sure they put the ///M logo in the iDrive controller, but besides the steering wheel and the seats, the M5 interior is practically the same as a regular G60. In the F10 the center console design was completely different for the M5, and the F90 had a bespoke Transmission Shifter that looked great. They really should have at least designed a bespoke center console area for the M5. Maybe even just put Carbon Fiber instead of the Piano Black.

Wow, someone regurgitated the marketing copy, I can do that too....
I'll keep my E60 M5 and G12 M760i. I think I've already bought the newest BMW I'll ever own. I'm sure China will vacuum it up, that doesn't make it a good car, or a good M5. |
