I wonder if that 3.1 includes rollout?

Personally I think rollout is a stupid metric now, but so many publications still use it. In order to compare this to other cars we really need to know if this was with or without rollout.

I agree.

But, I believe for the added heft, it will still be very quick and nimble.

Need to ask him also because none of us managed to get that. I got 3.5 to 62 mph, maybe with a better surface and warmer weather, save another .2 seconds.

Do you understand the difference between 0-60 mph and 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h)?

No one is using rollout here, it's just that some people seem not to understand the factual data at hand, like you for example.

It's not that someone deliberately uses a foot roll out but the GPS boxes have two settings: with or without. When I forget to change it to no roll out, it gets a different measurement. I know Joe well so I wanna ask what he used to understand the delta between my run and his. The one difference I saw was the he turned off DSC, I kept mine on.

No need for a personal attack, this is just trying to understand the difference in times.

I think that bmw could have managed to get a better 0 to 60 times if they want to but they were limited with how much the gearbox can handle and they did not want to put a lot of pressure on the transmission with the crazy torque of this car so they decided to keep the launch little soft
Just all my asumptions
The big limkting factor of this csr that no one is talking about is the transmission

I talked to Joe. The drag app was set with a foot roll out hence the variation for the rest of us. In my case, the M5 struggled the first foot with grip then it just blasted. I thought I was a bad driver for a second.

I remember reading somewhere (in a thread about how people might mod this car) that they maxed out the torque the transmission could handle.

Really? Joe used roll out on his video?

Also do you have any comment about you quoting his fast time to 60 mph vs your slow time to 62 mph? They are different metrics and one will take longer than the other, as I'm sure you have figured out now. You seem to be comparing two different things, if you re read your original comments on this thread.

What was your timed 0 to 60mph? You mention a variation between his and the rest of us....I note well your 3.5s to 62mph. What was it to 60mph?

I've been following BMW messageboards/usenets/everything pretty much since the late 90s, and Every Single Time, they just devolve into 'man, BMW has lost its way. The previous model was so much better.'

I was actually calling out a famous youtuber who was suggesting another famous youtuber was being untruthful to his massive audience.

Would be good to understand the thinking behind his comments, which from the outset seem rather disjointed and dare I suggest slanderous.

BMW has not lost its way. I have a G90 M5 arriving in January 2025. I currently own an F90 M5 LCI Comp, E39 M5, E34 M5, E92 M3, E30 M3 and non BMWs a 996 Carrara, 996 Turbo and Mclaren 570S Spider.

I appreciate their modern offerings as much as I do their classic ones.

If I see foul play, in my opinion, I will call it out.

Um, what? 3.1 doesn't quiet down anyone. It's considerably slower than the F90....and the i5 M60 gets 3.2 or 3.3 for $50k less.

Yeah, hard pass on this car right now short of some amazing revelation that comes out once people start getting their orders.......

It's really not all about 0-60 time. However, what are you offering for $50k more than the i5 M60? It sure isn't options inside the car....as we all know they cheaped out there in all 5 series. It's not range....you get 200 miles more range in the i5 M60.

I just don't really understand what they did with this car.....and I LOVE ME SOME M5 normally. But, damn.....to basically make it worse in almost every aspect versus the previous generation and barely BARELY better than the $85k M60? I guess I just don't get it, yet.....?

Joe does good reviews for sure, but I want to hear from long-term owners of the F90 M5 who make the switch. These reviews will be the ones I pay the most attention to.

I have a two-year-old iX with tons of that black, and it all looks just fine. Even the stuff on the front that you'd expect to get beat up by debris.

The app was set to 1 foot roll out so it will record accordingly. Due to the huge wheel slip and wheel hop initially, it will get better times if you set the GPS box to 1 ft rollout. Feel free to test this theory. Not sure what else to say.
