Hi folks,

Most will be aware that M cars ship with light oil that must be changed at a given mileage and the car must not be driven hard during this period.

The idea is that the ICE components mate well with one another before a more protective engine oil is added.

With the advent of PHEV, every vehicle will have run on electric power solely, for a significant portion of the running-in period so the ICE will not have 1500 km of actual running time on it. It could be much less.

Has anyone any info on this or whether the actual ICE mileage is shown in iDrive somewhere?

The XM keeps track of ICE only miles. Also, set your M settings for EControl, that keeps the electric motor off when driving. Quite a few posts on this over on the XM forum.

Thanks for input.

I had a 2022 545e PHEV and the odometer showed total driven kilometers. It did not discriminate for propulsion system.

I assume you mean to use eControl for the run-in period only rather then permanently?

Yes, for initial run in. I am on my second XM, and it did seem to keep the "service due" mileage to only gas engine. (Odometer shows total miles).
