I’ve only tiny mileage on it, not familiar with DP but it does drive itself on Motorways. It changes lanes definitely if the indicator is used. Not sure about eyes. It did warn me to keep my eyes on the road when stopped at traffic lights and did not move until I looked forward. If you let me know what to check/test I’ll do so and revert.

Thx!! Yeah it is like traffic jam assist where you can take your hands completely off the wheel but allows you to do the same up to 80mph rather than 40mph. On split highways that is.

Hi James, Yes, it defintely does that. But, it’s not standard equipment. Requires ‘Driver Assistant Professional’. I Googled ‘Highway Assist’ and it has a feature where lane changes are performed by simply looking at the relevant wing mirror. My car does not appear to have that particular feature but everything else is there, I think? It does demand that you tip the steering wheel regularly and it does work at the 75mph mark …I haven’t tested beyond that but don’t doubt it’ll work into the 80s Is this what you’re after? I’m attaching some relevant pages from the User Manual in case it helps make it clearer. I would be interested in knowing whether this system on the G90 is a slimmed-down variant or the full-fat version???

Thx for that information. It might be called different things in different countries. Also functionality might be slightly different etc. if you have to touch the steering wheel then it might be different. This what the US web site describes…
https://www.bmwusa.com/explore/drive...-features.html Highway Assistant Allows for hands-free driving at speeds up to 85 mph on controlled-access highways. This features includes Active Lane Change, allowing you to confirm suggested lane changes with a glance at the side mirror. The driver must stay attentive and take over if needed. |

Confirmed that my 2025 M5 does NOT have the Highway Assistant. Switches itself off at 40 MPH. Same functionality as my 2020 M8 Comp. I do have the 85MPH feature on my 2025 X7 and love it for highway driving. The language in the manual is different for both the 2025 M5 and the 2025 X7.
The X7 manual indicates that the 85MPH version will be active in delivery and only available for a limited time just FYI. |

The M5 does not have highway assistant. I drove it extensively through Germany. Its traffic jam assistant also is not the latest version (constantly asked for steering inputs).
