New TSX V6/280 HP and will cost 328i money.
Looking as a lot of you guys are former TSX Owners, thought some of you will find it interesting. More astonishingly, this engine is related to the Accord V6!(Not that there is anything wrong with it)
CHICAGO — Acura aims to fill a perceived gap between its redesigned TL sedan and the four-cylinder TSX with the new 2010 Acura TSX V6, which made its debut at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show on Wednesday. The V6-equipped TSX goes on sale this summer. Acura says the new model is "aimed at youthful buyers who want a performance-oriented sports sedan in a more personal size." Undoubtedly, it's also for buyers put off by the four-cylinder TSX's mediocre 7.7-second 0-60-mph time. The TSX V6 shares its 3.5-liter VTEC engine with the base Acura TL. The V6 makes 280 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque — a big upgrade over the current TSX's 201 hp and 172 lb-ft. Unlike on the four-cylinder model, though, the only available transmission will be Acura's SportShift five-speed sequential automatic, which comes with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The TSX V6 features revised suspension tuning and larger-diameter Michelin Pilot all-season tires mounted on 18-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels. A mildly revised front fascia and a discreet badge on the tail are the only visual clues to the V6's identity.

Okay i will be the first person to concede that it will probably have torque steer and still is FWD not SH-AWD. Hell, even the old TL with 260HP had torque steer.
It will sound good though.

You can pile as much shit as you want onto a FWD chassis and it will only get worse. FWD is suited for smaller lighter weight momentum cars.

So... it's still ugly, drives the wrong wheels, comes only in a slushbox (5 speeds, at that), and isn't available yet? Where do I sign up?

I almost bought a 2009 TSX, but I was too put off by the 4 cly. and front wheel drive. Plus I got a steal on a 2008 328i. The new V6 is a great improvment, but it is still front wheel drive and now cost the same as a 328i. The reason the TSX is a great car is because it was so much cheaper than a 3 series, with all the features you get. Now being the same price as a 328i, with an extra 50hp, I don't think the value is there anymore. This might put a lot of people off, "well I can get a BMW for the same price, whats 50hp". Thats just my opinion.

The last one was a really fun car in 6MT even without any power. But this sucker's way too heavy (as much as the 2nd gen TL-S) and lost its sport edge. With that said though, the interior is actually extremely nice and it's definitely the most attractive sedan Acura is selling these days. I'd buy it if they made it in AWD.

They did the best they could though. Acura still does not have a dedicated RWD platform and their AWD system saps power and is too complicated and expensive for the TSX. Just hope they hadn't fiddled so much with the looks though, it is forever writing checks the chassis cannot cash.

I had a 2004 TSX. It was fun as hell to drive, incredibly comfortable (I liked the seats far better than my E91), and the ergonomics and cabin electronics were far superior to the BMW, IMO. I also thought the transmission was smoother with a more responsive manualmatic mode.
The four cyl was buzzy, but it really wasn't as underpowered as it would seem. Honestly, I don't think the midrange acceleration was much different than my E91. It was pokey off the line though. The new V6 TSX would be a great option with one issue being a dealbreaker -the EPS. The electronic power steering in the 2nd generation TSX is numb and saps all the fun out of the car. It feels like playing a video game. Really, you have to test drive the TSX or TL to see just how bad the EPS is in some of the new Acura products.

The Acura 5AT that I had in my 2004 TSX was, IMO, a smoother and better tranny overall than the 6AT in my E91. yeah, it only has 5 speeds, but it is responsive as hell, always in the right gear, and very easy to shift manually.

The reason they sell those is the price - I had an old Acura CL back in the late 90's only because I just didn't want to spend the money on the 328 back then, but if it was the same price, no competition. In terms of power, Honda over rates their engines fairly significanly, so I would be suprised if it was any faster than a 328 and at the same price I would never look at it. To make it even less appealing to euopean sports sedan buyers Acura yet agains makes an executive decision not to offer a stick?? It took them 10 years to get around to offering a stick on their V6 cars and even then they try to only offer it in coupes unless it is mated to a 4 cylinder!
So close, yet so far away - Hyundai seems to get it and is starting to make a worthy product - Honda better watch out!

Probably should make it clear. I have it on good authority that the TSX will come fully loaded (Sat Nav, leather and the works) and will be priced at almost or close to where BMW starts the 328i without any options ($34,000).

And, it also won't be anywhere near the price of a similar E90. With every available feature, including Nav, backup camera, heated seats, etc, should go for about $34,000 - or the same price as an E90 with leatherette.

I was very impressed with the new TSX, and as most others, didnt get it because of the 4cyl. its low HP, low torque just dont equal a fun drive. im curious to see how well this one drives considering its overall a great car and a much better value for your money than a bmw. My old 328i was over 40K without nav and the TSX is gonna come in 5K less with so many more features and more power. you can diss acura all you want, but they sure do know how to produce value in the luxury segment.

if the new TSX costs 328i money, I dont think they will be selling well... because if thats the range of an A4 2.0T, IS250 (RWD or AWD), MB C300, Sabb 9-3, CTS money... and I would pick any of the above over TSX, for the same money.
Now, if TSX is about 3-5K cheaper, similarly loaded, then I'd pick TSX over all of the above. a $40K TSX? no thanks.

I like to drive my 04 TSX over my E46 328i a lot! My TSX absouletly more powerful than my E46 and just the butter smooth tranny is good enough to make me hate my E46 not to mention the nightmare reliabily on it. And my TSX also dyno to have 15 more hp than my 328i and 3hp more than a 530i(dyno on the same day). But... I hate the new one too.

I don't know where anybody go the impression that a TSX would cost $40K. You can get a TL with Nav for a few thousand less that that. It likely won't go for a lot more than $34,000, or about $10,000 less than a similarly equipped E90.
