2010 Camaro official EPA ratings and SS 0-60 times!

The EPA just sent GM the official fuel economy ratings for the 2010 Camaro. The SS gets 16/25(stick) and 16/24(auto). The amazing news is for the V6 model. That thing is rated at 18/29(stick) and 17/29(auto). That is 4 better then the Challenger and 3 better then the Mustang on the highway with also having more power.

GM has also released official 0-60 times for the SS and it comes in at 4.7 seconds.

Certainly looks aggressive. Not a car for me, though.

GM does pretty well with good MPG with their performance cars. Just look at the Vette.

Looks like it did the ring as well ..
2010 Chevy Camaro SS officially lapped Germany's Nurburgring in 8:19.

Not bad at all ..

I have to say, this seems like the first GM car in years that actually seems to have a soul.

Isnt this the one that was to be built in the Canadian plant? That place is on the verge of closing.

That's because nothing can beat the Germans right when it comes to handling or because it is American?

Yeah, the Camaro is being built at Oshawa which also builds the Impala. GM is not going to close a plant they just sunk billions into to remodel it.

More like within the next two months. Production has started, but if you were alluding to a GM bankruptcy( which doesn't mean GM is failing), get over yourself because all the auto companies are doing poorly. BMW, Toyota, Mercedes, Nissan, etc.

Wait. Bankruptcy /= Failing?

The difference between GM and all the other brands is the fact that GM has barely any money to fund their day to day operations.

Amazing concept isn't it? A Chapter 11 bankruptcy doesn't= failing. Chap 7 is the one you have to worry about.

Toyota will be in that situation by the fall if nothing changes right now. Toyota has a nice cash burn going as well, but they had more money to cushion themselves then GM did.

Welcome to the reality of a properly engineered American car.

The problem with GM has never been a lack of talent. The problem for years has been bean counting twits who don't know a damn thing about cars, and are so shortsighted they can't even begin to grasp how long it takes to properly develop a new platform. They were concerned about short term stock prices and how well their stock options were doing, and didn't give a damn about the company or the cars it was building.

That seems to have shifted now, but it may very well be too little too late. Thank greedy executives for fucking up another great American industry.

All the car magazines in the US agree with you.

Back on topic; if I bought one, I can't imagine it being a V6. Hopefully this car will infuse faith back into GM.

I beleive April 1 are deliveries to dealers. Not sure if that is sellable stock or demos but I'd expect to see them on the road with in a month.

Excellent job GM, fine looking and peforming car.

The most impressive thing in my book is that the price of the SS is 10k lower than the Challenger and even cheaper than the mustang which has about much less HP and torque. This car should sell like hot cakes (if any car does in this economy).

Started before that. Look at the date on this pic, snapped outside the Oshawa plant earlier this month:

I think the most impressive thing they did was jack up the V-6. That's insanity. To put down power numbers close to the GT in the base model.... That's a big slap across the face of Ford....

While the SS Camaro numbers are pretty impressive I think it actually says a lot about the 335i. Being down approx. 126 hp, 120 lb.ft, much lower displacement engine (I6 vs V8) and still able to be within 6-7 sec on the track and only a few tenths off on 0-60 stock with better gas mileage to boot. Not saying American cars can't beat German cars, as the SS definitely wins by the numbers, just looking at a different interpretation of the results.
