when people say exotics are expensive to maintain im confused as to what this exactly means. i know that if anything breaks, needs repairs, parts, etc it is expensive but is that what people are talking about when they say expensive to maintain?
im also thinking is the car not reliable? can it not be used as a daily driver for like 100-150k miles with no problems assuming no track, etc just daily driving oil change every 5k miles and proper maintainence? i thought these exotic sport cars are over built like the aston martin v8 vantage, ferrari, etc in terms of engine, durability, etc so why should it be expensive to maintain? don't they have warranties? im not talking about some high exotics like koensieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeg, etc but normal sport cars like the vantage, ferrari 460 and 430, lambo gallardo, etc. these cars are designed to be driven, but driving them as a daily driver shouldn't be a problem with proper maintainece? sorry for the bad wording but i just randomly had this thought in my head and had to ask ![]() main reason im asking this is because 07-08 aston martin vantages are 80-90k now very low miles along with lambos and ferraris which leaves possibilities in the future ![]()

why is it $1,400 and why every 1500 miles? actually the 1500 sounds find i guess for a sport car but why is oil $1,400? they use their own oil from lamborghini? can't i get something like royal purple, redline, amsoil, elf, etc?

On the contrary. Exotics are notorious for being finicky and breaking down on a whim. Keep in mind that hand built is not synonymous with high quality. In fact, a human is much more likely to make a mistake, and is much less precise, than a machine.

I know older Ferrari's (1999-05 or so) needed the timing belt service done every 5k miles are so. This service was around 8k. My dad had a 1999 456 about five years ago and it needed new spark plugs. $1300 later he was ready to go. And if something breaks??? forget about it

Indeed. Buying an exotic car is only half the story. Maitaining it is the other rather ugly and expensive of that story.

A friend of mine who's owned a couple of 360s once calculated what it cost him per mile. He said it was around $15.
