Any Marines located around Camarillo?
I've been training for OCS and am pretty bored constantly doing it all alone. I'd like to meet up with some local Marines, pick your brains, and then get a run/workout in. Anybody here fit that category or know of someone locally?
I'm shooting to get in the next class, which I believe is in April. Thanks |

Not 'round there but just make sure when you get in to listen to your NCO's.

Spent 4 years myself as 8541. Let me know if you have any questions. Run, sit ups, run, pull ups, sit ups, run. Keep doing all over and over. Nothing less than a 300 pft should be accepted if you are serious in the corps.

For pull-ups I bought this bar (pullup-dip version) and set it right by my desk so I can always just randomly bust out a couple pull-ups. It has been super clutch! In the 15-20 range. Running I have a bunch of different sets I'll do to mix it up: -3 mile course -5 mile course -10 1/4 mile uphill sprints -2.5 mile uphill run (1.25 miles steep uphill) -2-3 mile run stopping every 1/4-1/2 mile and doing either mountain climbers, pushups, or crunches -1.5 mile run then 1.5 mile interval sprints -stretch before and after run -after run I may also do some leg raises -last time I timed I was in the 21-22min range for 3 miles but that was a while ago...I need to time it again! -Main problem is I start to loathe these runs for being such a p.i.t.a. and somewhat repetitive (hence why I try and mix it up so much and am looking for a running buddy) Crunches are probably my weak spot right now since I don't focus as much training specifically doing crunches. I'm hoping these other exercises are helping build my core, but do need to just do them. Quote:
The main thing I wanted to accomplish was to just surround myself in the environment to keep my energy and motivation levels high. I've even had the privilege of meeting Rudy Reyes a couple times (read/watch- Generation Kill, Read- Webster Definition- Bad Ass) and even working out with him...aka him kicking my ass! How else better to train than with people who were/are already in?!? |
