Would you pick Audi R8 or Maserati GranTurismo?
Say you can buy any of those two cars for $120,000.
Would you pick Audi R8 or Maserati Granturismo? Also, can you explain why you would choose one over the other? (Performance / Looks) Me, I think Audi R8 performs better and looks more exotic. Plus, it is basically a lambo with facelift, right? Something about the Maserati(brand name is just addicting) and the design of GT really attracts me. Maserati might be using Ferrari engine with BMW trans, but I don't think the handling capability is up to par with Audi R8. Exotic look of the Audi R8 is a plus for me, but then again, the quiet yet subtle look of the GT is also very appealing. Say you can get one of those cars and you are stuck between the two. Which one?

Audi. The Maserati is ugly(to me), harsh on the road and doesn't handle well. I've driven both and the R8 wins in all areas.

R8 hands down. I've driven both of them. My next door neighbor has a GranTurismo, he always has it in the shop. A guy at the front of my community has an R8, that thing is just pure sex on the road. It just feels agile and it looks hella good.

I'd go Maserati. Ferrari engine, exclusivity, class... I think it would amaze me day by day more than the R8 would. The Audi's are nice but I tend to see them everywhere.

Tough decision. I'd toss a coin, can't go wrong either way.
Best regards, south

I'd take the Maserati, as it is more exotic and exclusiv, and for me the most beautiful coupé in the world. But it is not a performance car. In this way I would take an Aston Martin Vantage. If you want a real performance than get a Porsche 911 or Ferrari. I do not know why so many praise the Audi R8 more than the Lamborghini Gallardo if it is the same thing. I do not like the R8, it is car for show and for those that are afraid to lose control on wet road as it can happen with a BMW M but still speed on straight lines. (I'am not saying I am a hero)

German reliability vs Italian reliability
Sexy supercar looks vs Sporty coupe looks Arguably one of the greatest handling cars available vs Good at best Sorry but was the original question a genuine one in the first place. Even if the comparison was against the F430 I would still pick the R8 every time. |

Well, I personally am not a fan of rear engine cars, such as Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and and so. I don't like their proportion, I prefere to have a long hood and sit at the rear axle, but it should be quite special to have the engine just near you. I really like the new Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C.
How can the R8 be better than the Gallardo if they are the same? Is it the price? |

I see you really like this car, you have probably driven it. So some questions:
Do you prefer Audi R8 V10 or Porsche 911 Turbo? (it is subjectiv) Would you like BMW to build a Supercar (Z9/Z10/M9/M10) or you don't care? |

Would I like BMW to builda supercar? I suppose I would, though I doubt I would ever be it's client. BMW need to get on board with the competition, at present they are the only German brand not offering one in their lineup and yet they (apart from Porsche) are the most sporty of these main manufacturers. Problem is that I don't think BMW can produce one at the moment unless it plays the green card. |
