What can be done to a Skoda?

It is possible that in a few years I'll be moving to a country where Skoda's abound. I might end up getting it to toy with, as there aren't really any other performance cars that I know of in that location.

I read on their website that they can come with up to 170 hp diesels or 200 hp turbo I4 for the upgrade models. Are there chips out on the market for these things? Who can give me an idea of the power they can handle, I don't know much about this company or the pedigree of their engines/transmissions.

Thanks

P.S. Please dont say push it off a cliff, trade it in for a 135 or get a bike etc... Save those comments, I'm serious here, Skoda FTW

Skodas are pretty much volkswagens with an uglier shell.
They use the same engines, other parts and similar interiors.

We get skoda here but its far from popular. They are pretty cheap though - so getting a vw/audi quality interior and engine for a lot less could be seen as a good thing.

Thats good news, I want to make one pretty quick. My target is 300 hp at crank, or more. I wonder if the VW chips can be used on Skoda, I would think they have different ECUs etc...

Not sure, but i think the turbo engine is out of a the Golf GTIs so i would assume any parts for the golf could be used on the skoda. I think audi also shares the same engine.

Even if the ecu is different there is going to be a huge range of parts available.

The 2.0T found in some Volkswagens and entry level Audis is shared with some modern Skodas. Anything that works for them should work for a Skoda as well.

Garage List
Automobile Magazine tested a 2.0 turbo diesel a while back. Econobox interior but very quick for what it is.

If you get the Octavia RS, you'll want to go for the petrol version if you're aiming for an easier 300 hp...

AFAIK, the octavia comes with a K03 turbo, so the first thing to do is swap it... for a K04 or something better, as budget will allow. Depending on what turbo you pick, you will make at least 300 hp with the right chip (check out GTI mods, especially Edition 30s, since they have the K04 turbo)

I suggest you go for something like this:

http://www.goapr.com/products/stage3_trans20t.html

I think the highest I've seen on a 2.0T was around 600hp...

Oh, and where are you moving to? I can't think of any country on earth where Skoda would be the only available option... and I'm in the Czech republic myself.

P.S.: The Octavia RS is a "FAST" car, not a SPORTS car, like the BMW.
