or to take a look at all your startup items...
start -> run -> type in "msconfig" + enter -> click "startup" label -> unclick the checks for the things you dont want running

this might help you find it... and kill the process... but your best bet is to use ur system restore to restore to a point before you got the program... (the program is essentially control-alt-delete thing but it shows you more...)

you can try adaware free.. it detects alot of spyware but is only effect to an extent... you can also use the free microsoft antispyare utility http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx
the combination is probably better

so assuming that was the cause of that + your system restore has been turned on since you got your computer or wahtever... you can
start -> programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore -> click "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time" + Click "next" -> Choose the Date (two days away?) + "Next" -> and i'm guessing it restores to that time. note: if you have any files that you downloaded or made between the date of restoration and now... you should back them up. ***system restore is irreversible. (i would do this only if my virus scanner / spyware progs cant locate/uninstall that stuff)

reformat your pc. the only true solution. dont take a risk using a program thikning it will clear it all up. there is no program that detects ALL viruses/spyware.
i am a clean user and i had this major attack a month ago. tons of popups and major hang when running programs, etc. a quick format did the job |

yeah sungmin is right.... reformating is the only solution that will guarentee anything... but it is also a bitch and time consuming. reformat = when all else fails and you've lost all patience...

too bad that you live so far, i can remove it for you.
go download a program call Hijackthis and run it then post your log on here. I can read from that list and probably can point you to the right direction. Or likes sungrim said, back up what you need then re-install windows from scratch. |

glad system restore worked for you.
when you install Windows XP, it allows you to reinstall with or without formatting your HD. If you chose to format, you'll lose everything on your HD. There're ways to recovered formated drive but it's a pain. Btw, system restored only restored system state and core files. The spyware files are might be in your system. Go download MS Defender http://www.microsoft.com/defender. It's quite good. For internet browser, try to use Mozila browser such as Firefox. It helps to keep spyware away from your PC. Internet Explorer(IE) has direct scripting connected to your OS so, it can be easily attack. |

Although I'm not naive enough to believe that using a mac for the majortiy of my computer time keeps me 100% safe, but it certianly is a LOT more secure, so there's always the option of switching back in your case

that was the easiest solution to fix a virus i've ever seen. Heck i was going to send him into the registry and delete stuff from the HKLM\\\\run menu. Phew..
