Dump the background, maybe. Something like a nice gray-to-white fade.

kill that hard USM. it's wretched.
the grey-to-white bg is a good idea, but then smooth out the reflections in the paint. try making the gradient fall off late, vertically. about 1/4 way up from the bottom. and add more grain. :]

not into chopping out things on the car... if its a background or reflection thats 1 thing. Removing something we all know is on the car and is on EVERY 335i out there is another.

If it was an advertising piece, I'd be willing to bet they would remove that keyhole. It's distracting to the image.

i hate the dark fade on the trunklid.
i like the background, though. it provides a good contrast to the lack of color on the car. the sharpness is spot on, as well. basically, i second rodi. except i say keep the background. |

halo is a biproduct of the LucisArt software didn't even think it was very noticable in the original. I added the outter glow in the 2nd edit

the dark fade is also part of the 3d tonemapping software. I know I could adjust it pre-LucisArt but I'm still kinda a fan of natural shadows and highlights as they were on scene. I know on a professional level if this was an ad it probably wouldn't fly but it's not so I'll call it "artsy" and keep it.

I've been paid to shoot and I own decent equipment... more than a recreational/amature photog would but not as much or as nice as a pro. I realize anyone can own anything without having any skill but I just mean it in the sense that I've invested a little bit into having quality equipment because I'm more serious about it than your average person.

My suggestion would be to remove the reflections from the car. On the right side, I'd also add a bit of vignetting, a little more blur, and de-saturate the background a bit. The focal point of the photo appears to be the tail-light assembly and the green/red thing going on next to it is taking away from the nice lines in your pic. I'd also fix the schmutz (I guess its some water?) along the edge of the trunk lid and the right edge above the light.
I like the heavy sharpening and I actually light the little bit of glow you've got going on. |
