Official BimmerPost Photo Contest #24: Patriotic Images!
Official BimmerPost Photo Contest #24: Patriotic Images!
________________________________________ RULES: 1. Any interpretation of the theme that falls within Bimmerpost.com rules is welcome. 2. You must be the person that took the photo. Previous photos are acceptable as long as you are the one that captured the image. 3. One submission per contest. 4. Images must be no larger than 800px in any direction. Links to larger images are allowed but you must have one that is under 800px for the poll. 5. All contestants must host their own pictures (which includes hosting them on Bimmerpost). 6. All images must have a title. 7. While post processing in Photoshop is allowed, adding or removing parts of the picture is not. In the event a photo is suspected to be "photo-chopped," the contestant will be asked to provide the original picture. THEME: A photo that captures the essence of patriotism or pride in one's nation. Flags, colors, fans, decorations, fireworks, parades, etc. LOTS of ways to capture this one. With Canada Day (July 1st), Independence Day (July 4th) and other Nations' holidays in the near future and the World Cup currently going on, there should be plenty of chances to capture the theme. *I reserve the right to enforce these standards as necessary. IMPORTANT DATES: Entries must be submitted to this thread no later than Saturday July 10th @ 11:59 PM PDT That is over 3 weeks folks, no reason at all NOT to enter. The poll will commence shortly thereafter. Don't be chicken, get to clickin'!!!

Note: I thought about extending the deadline to July 19th so that Bastille Day (July 14th) would fall during the contest. But I don't know if we get many from France strolling through our forum.....

For some clarification on the rules, can I take a photo and make the whole thing B&W with the exception of one area? I'm not really adding or removing anything, but I don't know if removing the color from some parts counts as removing...

I'll allow it, as long as the retained colors are the original.

Took this when I was taking pictures around DC in 2008. Nice Day. I used a 40D with the stock 18-55mm Kit lens from a Rebel XT.

Grrrr....I can't post a lot of what I have. Here's a place holder for my entry. Not the greatest, but it's all I have until I get a chance to get out with my camera. I'll change my entry if I can get a shot of what I have planned.

While walking home from the local fireworks event last Sunday, the Cleveland's War Memorial Fountain looked picturesque. So, I decided to take a quick snapshot of it. Since I didn't have my tripod with me, I was lucky how well it came out, as I shot it handheld with an ISO of 200 and a shutter speed of 1 sec!
