UFC 116 - Brock vs Carwin
Big fight this weekend. Carwin's best chance to knockoff a rusty Brock Lesnar. He had a good shot regardless.
Thoughts? http://116.ufc.com/#/fightcard/

don't really care for any of these two fighters and the undercards don't look that much better either except lytle vs brown which should be an intresting fight, therefore i will not buy this event.....
...instead i'll bum off at my brother's house and make him get it |

I see 3 outcomes: 1. Carwin gets the KO/TKO win due to a battery of gorilla punches. 2. Brock knocks out Carwin. He's got power and is pretty athletic. If he's developed better hand speed and has refined his striking it could happen. Carwin has been rocked before. 3. LnP decision win for Brock. <-- more likely than #2, me thinks. Personally, I'd like to see Carwin win via organ crushing shovel hook + overhand punch combo. Shovel hook + hook + overhand right was always my favorite in-fighting combo to use. Ah....memories. lol Carwin's power punches would make it all the more interesting.

Oh damn!
Brock was impressive. To come back from a life threatening injury AND out of the game so long to win by a legit sub? Wow

damn i just saw it too and i thought corwin had that fight 1st round, feel so bad he couldn't finish it.
he must feel so bad knowing he had to chance to finish the fight but couldn't . on the other hand, i think he was exhausted in the 2nd round after throwing all those punches in 1st round like the commentors said he never went to 2nd round and his conditioning really showed after his efforts in the 1st round. i think brock will continue to get better which is scary seeing how fast he can move for a guy his size. can't wait to see who he fights next though...

I actually kind of laughed when Brock sunk the choke in. I expected him to show off some more of his stand-up improvements since he's competitive and seems like the type to try to beat someone at their own game. However, the mat is his home, I guess. Something not clear to me is that I found it hard to tell if he still doesn't like getting hit or if Carwin really did hurt him in the 1st. Still, it was nice to see him employ something other than the typical bread 'n butter guillotine or RNC that everyone and their mom knows.
Sadly, I knew it was over for Carwin around his 20th punch on an inverted, turtled Lesnar. I was screaming for him to slow down and drop some shots to Brock's body instead of hitting mostly Brock's forearms covering his head. I knew he'd punch himself out the way he was going and he wasn't connecting as much as he could've been. Besides, how many heavyweights that size haven't punched themselves out like that? I almost stopped watching when Carwin was in Brock's half guard. You could see he was done. Although I wouldn't want to get hit by Carwin, Brock seemed to be blocking a lot of those shots in the 1st. It doesn't take much to choke out a gassed out opponent. Anyone who has grappled knows that to be generally true. It's where having heart comes in, but the other thing Carwin had going against him was that I think, mentally, he was done after the 1st if not towards the end of the 1st. Couple that with having an empty tank and you pretty well have the fight handed to you on a silver platter. I was impressed with the way Brock finished the fight, I will say that, though. I was also glad to see that he didn't pull any WWE crap post-fight. My gripe is his usual camera personality (WWE-ish) and that a super heavyweight came in and pretty much just used his size to win over much smaller opponents. That's not a champ to me and does nothing for the sport. As he trains, learns actual techniques, and applies them in matches, I'll have no problem with him. I think a rematch is inevitable and Carwin's got some cardio to work on. I actually think he could've pulled off the W if he was smarter after Lesnar went down. He did fairly well defending take downs and had the edge standing. Some would say he flipped his kill switch, but there's a difference between flipping the switch and flipping the switch while staying smart. How about that Lytle fight, though?

fight was sick...brock really took hell of a beating, Carwin had a opportunity to submit him when he was on the ground but i guess since he never went longer than a min and half he didnt know what to do but punch lol.

All the fights were pretty good IMO. Lytle vs Brown was a war waiting to happen when those 2 stepped in the cage. A little surprised it ended via sub. Leben vs Sexiyama was a good fight to watch. A brawler vs a technical striker/judo bb. The both showed they had iron chins and left everything out in the cage. I was really surprised to see Leben throw in a triangle choke on a exhausted sexiyama. Weather or not you like leben its been a good 2 weeks for him 2 wins in 2 weeks. One vs a very good opponent in sexiyama. Lesnar vs Carwin was exciting in the 1st round. Early on you could see some rust on Lesnar. Carwin has heavy hands and hurt him early before he was initially dropped. I was a little worried they were going to do a premature stoppage. Carwin was raining down punches and Lesnar was only covering up, although he was defending himself the ref's have stopped it for less. I'd like to see the rematch after Cain and JDS when Brock has had a few fights back.

Amazing fights last night! Haven't seen a UFC event that had so many epic fights. Dana white gave out two bonuses for Fight of the Night. Brock is the real deal and won my respect.
