Mafia II
Bought the game for Xbox today. Best game I've ever played. Now, I'm a huge Open-World fanboy and I'm obsessed with anything mafia-related, but I can't seem to conceive how anyone couldn't absolutely love this game. I'm only at the beginning right now, but the depiction of the 1940's is so accurate that I sat in shock when it came on the screen. Same thing goes for the mob guys and activities. I'm in heaven.
Now, I've owned a lot of open-world games in my day, one of which I literally tracked for two and a half years before it came out (GTA IV). I've owned every Grand Theft Auto, every Saints Row, Red Dead Redemption, The Saboteur, both Assassins Creeds, the first Mafia game, both Godfather games, and all titles in the Driver series. I've already pre-ordered the next Driver game as well. I literally own an Xbox for two reasons: 1.) First-person shooters that I play only with friends and 2.) Open-world games that I practically nut to. I can honestly say, Mafia II so far, is the best. I think there's still a demo on Xbox Live if you're interested. Anyone else played this yet? Am I crazy?

interesting, none of the reviews are all that great. Red Dead Redemption got nearly perfect scores, I thought this would be the same
thoughts? |

Anyone have any comments yet on how this compares to Red Dead Redemption, as from what I'm gathering Mafia II is sanbox much in the same way that RDR is.

Didn't get to play Mafia 2 too much but from what I understand there's much more side stuff to do in Red Dead.
Personally although there was a lot of side stuff to do in Red Dead, the main story wasn't cutting it for me and I stopped playing a couple hours after going to Mexico. Mafia 1 had me hooked all the way through and so far so good with the sequel. |

Yep. Starts in winter, changes to summer, and I expect we'll see fall and winter again before it's over.

i literally hate open world games, never liked none of the gta or asassins creeds.
but the other night my girl actually got me to download the mafia II demo for my ps3 as she loves mobster movies and games, so i did and played the demo and i can tell you that this game is pretty cool compared to the others. i actually considered buying it. |
