Problem is people who work for TSA are not really screened and it's actually pretty easy to get the job, I worked at an airport as a server and often they offered the food service employees to become TSA agents. So a bunch of "average" people are put into a position of authority over others, it's just too much for 90% of them and they just have to find ways, ridiculous ways, for them to try to demonstrate their authority like little children.

As much as I'd love to see that happen there's a little thing that grants them this ridiculous authority... PL 107-56.

This is absurd. Why hasn't the media picked up on this( or did I miss it)?
Though I do have a question, according to the video the breast milk was for her child waiting at home. Why did she need the breast milk anyway? Why didn't she just breast feed the kid seeing how it was in her own home. Not trying to excuse these TSA agents/manager or try to shift some blame to the mother. Just something that struck me as odd. |

It's not TSA rules to purposely impede passengers. It's the rude interpretation and misuse of these rules that's the real problem. They're hiring folks who otherwise have no qualifications to hold such authority to place judgements on others. Just look at these losers in uniform. They hold their attitudes with equal disdain for the common traveller as correction officers have for inmates. These 'civil servants' truly feel the need to physically and mentally dominate innocent folks on a daily basis. It's sickening.
BTW, after a 3 week trip in Asia vising numerous airports it's a shame to say that the guards are awesome. The TSA equivalents over there work with you to get the job done. They say please and thank you and guide you through the proceadure effortlessly and with a meausure of dignity. |

I'm not saying the TSA aren't a bunch of morons, and it certainly seems like they went way over the line. But also realize you're only getting one side of the story.

Stupid TSA agents are following stupid leadership. While detaining and harassing a typical young woman, they could easily have overlooked real threats and boarded them un-scrutinized.

Under-trained and under-qualified, and unfortunately stuck to standard, Procrustean system to 'spotting' threats. Many of them haven't the slightest clue of profiling, indicators, or eliciting. They've been here for a while, but they're stuck in a nascent form.

some more recent horrible display of harassment from our TSA's. Just wow
Most repulsive is strip searching a child Cancer surviror forced to remove prosthetic breast. Whats funny is that Flight crew are not subjected to these things. Again not following their own rules. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40278427/ns/travel-news and lastly "A retired special education teacher on his way to a wedding in Orlando, Fla., said he was left humiliated, crying and covered with his own urine after an enhanced pat-down by TSA officers recently at Detroit Metropolitan Airport" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40291856/ns/travel-news
