Renting my apt. for the superbowl (need insight)
This is not an ad, I am just wanting some opinions. I go to school in Dallas and my friends just rented their 3 bed room apartment for super bowl weekend ($5000). Granted they have a very nice place, mine is not as nice or big but close. I think I can probably get about 800-1000 a night by looking at craigslist. I feel that my apt has some draws. It is across the highway from SMU football complex where the Packers will be practicing. 5 min from downtown. Its in Mockingbird station in Dallas, which has a DART (dallas area rapid transit) station literally in it. But I have some concerns:
Would you trust someone you have never met to stay in you apartment? I would remove my valuables obviously. Should I create a contract with a lawyer? If so how much would that cost me and what should it include? Also I would be staying with a friend of mine in the same complex so I could keep an eye on it, and be able to be there for any reason should something occur. Thanks in advance for the advice. |

No experience but here's my advice based on common sense. Remove anything you consider valuable. Get a deposit. I would have some type of contract too. Not sure if you need a lawyer for that. Maybe others can give you better advice than me.
I would also look into property insurance. And check what it covers (does it cover renters?). |

your lease could be violated for Subletting, if the property manager found out, most apartments have a No Subletting clause in the contracts.
but if your comfortable with the people and the situation, sounds like a quick buck to me. |

Only thing I'd be worried about to be honest.
Also look into that subletting clause. Other than that check your insurance, get a contract drawn up and make some dough!

I have sublet before with no problems, but that was to a close friend. Honestly not too concerned with that, more concerned with them ruining my sh*t, and/or not paying.

My parents rented out our place when the super bowl came down here. They made a pretty penny off of it (overlooking the water, you can see the stadium from the roof, 5 min from the airport) but they said the hassle, stress, and worry almost didn't make it worth it. Almost

I can see how it would be a hassle, but I think 1-2k would be worth it. I have a few valuables, but as I said those would be coming with me. I wouldn't even be too pissed if they took the TV, I have been eyeing bigger TVs anyways.

$1k per night, 2 nights, and a $1.5k security deposit.
Then I'd do it, otherwise fuck no. You'd be amazed the amount of damage a bunch of drunk people can do in a couple nights |

It would not be worth it for me.
If you are going to do it I'd be absolutely certain (not sure if that's possible) that they aren't going to be running a whore house out of your place for a few days. Yes, it happens a lot.

I always run brothels out of rented houses over superbowl weekend with the underaged mexican sex slaves I smuggle across the border in the gas tank of my 4x4.
