My 370Z had a 3.7 liters engine but its stock power was a damn mofo-slow as shit with the worst MPG ever. If you have some money to buy more HP then go for it. I have no experienced with Evo X...

I say the Evo, but it's close. I have no experience with the 370 but I hear the ride is rough, plus like you said, the evo is already turboed.

I'd say get the Evo if your main priority is to just tune and have fun. Interior is definately better in the 370z though and the engine also sounds alot better but aside from that the evo pretty much wins everywhere else (Imo).
P.S the 370z is horribly impracticle. Small trunk, small cabin |

Performance bang for buck you will not compete with the EVO with a 370z, hands down. Mod for mod, dollar for dollar it's not even a contest, the EVO X.

Well I had the chance to own and drive both an Evo IX (I know it wasn't a X) and a 370z.
The Evo was built to stage 1 and was fun fun fun! Still miss that car. The interior was el' cheapo however and I doubt much has changed in the X. The handling is supposed to be much improved however and when you get to moddin', you get some real returns for the dollars spent. My old Evo... 24lbs of boost. Pure rush of dayum! My 370z was modified with just about everything short of FI. Interior was SO much better than the Evo and everything about that car just felt more solid. In stock form the ride wasn't bad. Of course I had to go and put sway bars and coilovers on set to back breaker status so... needless to say, my wife hated riding in it. I however loved it and it was on rails! It didn't have that turbo rush but the power (much like the M3) came on very linear and the thing was quick. Damn quick. I really liked that car and as others have stated already, the most bang for your buck hands down. My 370... Everything from a lightweight flywheel to SS brake lines and everything inbetween! Overall pick... 370z. |

Haven't owned a X and a 370, but I owned a decently modified Evo IX, and a decently modded NA 350Z with the HR motor. The 370 was a blast to drive and with a few mods handled very well. The Evo is just a beast though. If this is purely for performance and not for just cruising around, then you can't beat the Evo. Take a look at what it takes to make a 370 fast, and what it takes to make an Evo fast. It's doable on both, but the Evo will be way easier and way less expensive. Everyone I know who has gone F/I on a Z car has ran into trouble. They have pretty much said that if you don't have twice what the kit costs in the bank, then don't start modding it, because things will break and complications come up. I have a friend who ran 10.2 in his Evo VIII on a stock block, with 40 psi making 630 whp last year, and can still drive it on the weekends around town. You wouldn't know anything crazy was done to the car aside from the pretty extreme sounding cam idle. He probably has the cost of a GTM kit into his Evo, and will waste a turbo'd Z car with almost no issue.

I'm not sure if they fixed the problem but i've read somewhere that when you push the brembo's on the 370z too hard, they "stop working". I read this a year ago, so i forgot if it was heavy brake fade or if it just started malfunctioning.
