And it should be for no less than your net worth.

I personally had no idea what it was till I took my concealed carry training. Found out real quick how expensive it is to shoot someone in your own house when they break in.

I have a separate policy for that. Well, to be specific, it's a small premium for $300k of legal service.

$300k won't cover it. Average cost to defend yourself after shooting an intruder is $480,000. This is of course with the Cassle law in place. We have a $2 million to take care of everything, car accident, someone suing us or being forced to shoot some Mofo that decided it was a good idea to break into our house.

Well I don't actually want to get one I just wanted some rough estimates out of curiosity.

I'd imagine that a $2 million umbrella insurance policy probably costs less than a $2 million life insurance policy for example but I just wanted some rough figures out of curiosity.

I'm not going to lie when I first saw the term I thought it was referring to the act of carrying an umbrella with you at all times in case it rains

That's of course on top of the umbrella.

Just remember, most umbrella policies only kick in at 500,000 or $1,000,000.

So, while they are cheap, in general, you need to increase your vehicle limits to $500,000 or $1,000,000 so there are no gaps. And that can have a small extra cost too,
