My e92 embarrased me this weekend...
Why BMW? Why! I just don't understand how a car this great can have little quirks that literally ruin my driving experience and embarrassed me with my friends this weekend on top of it. God damn sticky brake, comfort stop, squeaking brake, iPod issues, etc...
I was with 3 of my friends and it went something like this... Friend1: Dude, why do you keep stopping like that? Me: Like what? Friend1: Like your letting off the brake and then pressing it again really fast. Me: It's not me, my car downshifts abruptly or something because of this damn Comfort Stop. It's suppose to easy stops or something like that. I don't know. Friend1: Yeah, well they should call it uncomfortable stop. All Friends: Laughter! A little while later... Friend2: What's that noise? Me: I don't know it started happening a week ago. Every time I come to a stop it makes that squeaking noise. Its a new car so I don't know if its the brake pads or what. Friend2: That's fucked up man, this is a brand new car! Me: I know, but it's not that big a deal. Friend2: If I paid $50k for this car it would be a big deal to me! Friend1: No shit! A little while later... Friend3: Hey man can I put on some Mars Volta? Me: Go ahead and use the iDrive knob to browse my iPod. (We were at a red light and I was texting someone) Friend3: Wow, that's so cool man. You can browse your whole iPod? Wicked! Me: Yeah, it's pretty dope. Friend3: What's going on? It says "Loading List..." but nothing is happening. Me: Give it a sec. (at least 30 seconds go by) Friend3: Nothing is happening. Me: Yeah it does that sometimes, I have to pull out the usb cable and plug it back in to get it to work again. Friend1: That's BS man. Me: I know. Damn embarrassing. Don't get me wrong, I love my car. But seriously, what the fuck! |

so you were not pissed before, but now that your friends said something it is a big deal?
I personally don't let anyones opinion of my car sway me. If you took an issue to the ipod before, you should have taken it up with your BMW center to correct the problem of bad wiring. If it took your friends to make fun of you to sway your opinion, I think I know what the BMW is covering up for...

The easiest way to fix that would be to get new friends that comlain less. BTW, any friend that wants to listen to the mars volta is no friend of mine.
Seriously though, take your car to the dealer and see if they can resolve the problem with your brakes. I never even heard of comfort brakes before, my car stops like any other that i've had.

As far as my friend situation you're over analyzing. Yes I was pissed before but my friends asking why my car was doing this shit didn't exactly help. |

Well, I have an E92 335 also and I never felt any abrupt stopping so there is something going on there. Maybe try another dealer if the one you go to just talks out of their ass, but that is usually the case unfortunately.

Who gives a shit about your friends. Pride issue much?
You have a 335i, all that matters is that it can rape ass. If you wanted a luxery car, you should have got your self a C55 or C63. What count's is in the heart, the heart of a car, is the engine. |

The brakes do take awhile to get used to, but they may also save you from an accident when needed unexpectedly. The Brembos eliminated the ultra-sensitive twitchy sticking of the brakes.
The iDrive computer IS ridiculously slow. The rear PDC screen should come on instantaneously upon backing up. What's more important? Realizing a kid is behind your car when backing up or seeing the Warning Accept Disclaimer screen while you run someone over? The iDrive Navigation screen is also delayed by the loading of phone numbers via bluetooth to the car's computer. Our car needs more RAM, more processor speed, or something. |

The prooblem with iDrive and most other systems in other cars is that they use flash memory instead of real RAM which is very slow reading and writing to. Cars with fast RAM and hard drive based nav systems like the new W204 C Class Benz are much more responsive. Too bad the car looks like the offspring of an Accord vs Camray mashup.

Darn....I guess me having the manual and no idrive saved me some of these headaches. What the heck is comfort stop.
Seems like the more eletronics, the more bugs. |

You must have a problem reading, eh? I was texting while at a red light. That would mean I was at a stop if you're still mystified.

right on the money. Those friends seem like major assholes. You impressing them? Let there honda's or whatever other car they have take up to 20 years to catch up. Just making assumptions as you emphasized 50K.. lol.. BMW cars do have bugs, but all comes working after a while.

It's never the car that's at fault, right? I mean it's not the one that's doing weird stuff. My friends or I are all the ones that have a problem because we DARE to question the almighty and infallible BMW. I'm trying too hard to impress my friends who suck, I get it, thanks. |
