I always say "ninety-eight Nissan."

Although you wouldn't think so by the forum, a 335 is a way above average car in the real world. I'm going for partner/VP so if people see me bragging about my car, talking about my new LED license plate upgrades, dub ones, quad exhaust HID 20k conversion, my gut is they're thinking, "he obviously doesn't need a better job," or they think my priorities are messed-up. If a person is a car person, then I'll talk BMW with them. Otherwise, it's on the down low. As I get older, no kidding, for whatever reason, I'm becoming more humble and modest. Two great experiences (not at the moment but in retrospect) are losing more than your annual salary on Wall St. (on paper), and making a mistake at work, owning up to it, and thinking that you may lose your job as a result, but finding that people are appreciative you owned-up. I highly recommend going through those, in the long run they seem to be real learning experiences.

"A little BMW Coupe".

Actually, I met a girl earlier this summer and she said she hated mercedes and bmw drivers (just came up in the conersation). When she asked, I told her I drove a toyota corolla, which is actually my second car. Little did I know after a few more drinks, her and her friend would ask for a ride home. So we walked to the parking deck where my 335 was. I heard a few unkind words and then showed her my toyota key. Oh well, she was hot.

When asked, I just say 'a three thirty-five eye'. If asked further, I'll say it is a BMW coupe... I don't like saying things like a 'bimmer' or a BMW right off the bat depending on who is asking. Unfortunately the stigma some people associate with the car and the marque are what cause me to be as discreet as possible. Therefore, I'll introduce my car as uncool as possible.

I hear ya on the wall street thing...I took a $150k wack last year...That one was a real reality check..Since then I am alot less aggressive and I tend to think twice now before making foolish purchases..That one trade made me grow up real fast. The funny thing is I am a stockbroker so I can't even blame anyone else...So that was a real reality check.

The one and only time that question ever came up in a conversation was when someone was complaining about some feature in their car or lack thereof, and I make comparitive statements regarding the same feature in my car.

I must be hanging around people with more to think and talk about.

I'll say BMW three thirty five to non-Bimmer heads. To people like us...I'll say E93.

If I don't know if the person is car savvy or not, I just say "BMW 3-series".

If the person cares, they'll usually say "Oh, which model?" and I then get more specific.

It comes from people on the other side of the pond.If you follow motorcycle racing from over there the announcers call many bikes and classes the way you described. The 125cc class is referred to as the ONE TWO FIVES and so on.
