Jay-Z: American Gangster
The singles are decent at best on this CD(i.e. Blue Magic) Jay has always been biting but goddamn he's biting hardcore off this album...Success feat Nas the first verse is a blatent rip from Em's "I'm back" from the Marshall Matters LP..." I used to give a f**k/now I give a f**k-less/what do I think of success/It sucks..." He's always been biting BIG and Pac but this is like only like 2-3 years old at least reach a decade back where most ppl wont realize ur biting...he does however have a remixed version of my fav Jay-Z song of all time: Ignorant shit but that song dropped like 2 years ago...it just seems like no one is trying anymore...btw anyone who says Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive should be shot

Who cares about ballin' shit fucking whoring criminals and their somewhat attractive but obviously poorly educated anorexic nympho bitches?
Buying their CDs just gives them money to keep their noses in coke and their ugly mugs in the media, where their shining example is lapped up by your kids. > it just seems like no one is trying anymore... They don't need to - you buy their crap anyway. > anyone who says Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive should be shot Anyone who buys Rap Music should be shot. |

i can't listen to JZ because IMO, he just looks wayyyyyy too dumb... i mean, there are rappers that look "legitimate" in the rap industry, but JZ... idk, he just reminds me of a fat ja-rule with a baby face plastered to a slob...
Pac and Game -- they look like legitimate rappers... just my 0.02 |

Thats weird, he was saying on the radio that he had to take some time off to create this CD as he songs started sounding like he was just making music for the hell of it... and you guys are saying it sucked? lol... thats sad, now it doesn't sound good enough to download??

apparently he has been lacking inspiration for a while and was just rapping about whatever (i.e. Kingdom Come) but after watching the movie he had sudden inspiration and decided to record an album...in 2 weeks. Although he's always had a fast turn around time this is a little excessive...check it out you might like it

Secondly, the music isn't for everyone, the same way Slipknot and Mudvayne isn't.
N E ways, I think the cd is pretty good, it carries the theme very well with what the movie portrays. Although it's not a soundtrack for the movie, it was inspired by the newly released film 'American Gangster'. I would give the album a 4/5 rating. |

i like the new blue magic song. didn't think the song with nas was very good.
last week on a few different sirius radio shows, they were talking about how the album got leaked and wasn't that great. guess we'll see what's up since today is the release day.

i dont like jay-z that much... but i do listen to his songs... the bash brothers remix of his black album was probably the most enjoyable.
and i do like lil wayne more than jay-z.

People dont really listen to lyrics I see on this particular thread. Jay is the best to ever do it. If you dont believe listen to his albums. He talks about an array of topics and has never fallen off. This album in particular shows the growth and maturation of Jay-Z as an artist.
And for those saying he is not a smart/ bright, look at the success he has achieved through music, but more importantly, financially. You try and do the same. |

I was going to post a reply to Max_! but it's just not worth it....anyway the blue magic song isn't bad till like the second verse: This '87 state of mind that I’m in/ In my prime, so for that time, I’m Rakim/If it wasn’t for the crime that I was in/
But I wouldn’t be the guy who's rhymes it is that i'm in come on Jay....step your game up..where is your AMAZING Reasonable Doubt flow?? Everytime I hear 22 2's I'm still amazed....Lil Wayne is what I call an analogy rapper: I'm sharp like a blender/I'l hold u up like suspenders....my example: if I stack up birds in my nest then: BIRD : NEST :: (A) dog : doghouse (B) squirrel : tree (C) beaver : dam (D) cat : litter box (E) book : library |

as for my earlier statement... i never said he was dumb... i said he LOOKS too dumb... he's a great entrepreneur, and he knows how to manage his assets... it's also good that jz doesn't rap about getting shot 35x and not shooting back... as much as i like rap, i just HATE how every damn some lacks "creativity" (for the lack of a better word) don't get me wrong -- i listen to rap from time to time... but then, i get so tired of it because all rap songs (except for pac and biggie IMO) just repeat the same line over and over and over again. i's gotz deez dub twentee tWWWOOOOos... my wallet gotz cashhh.... abuse bitches... slap bitches... theyz alll bitches... i's gotz deez dub twentee twooooooo's... on my ASS-CAL-AID... etc. etc. as much as i like the beat to a few rap songs, i find myself getting tired of them a little too fast. |
