Picked up a Project Car

Yo!!!
On Tuesday I picked up a 1992 W124 300E. I’m lucky to have got my hands on this one as all the others roaming around in the country are the lower-end models. I paid $75,000TT (About $12,000US) and this is to be my long-term project and plan on keeping this car for decades. I had the option of picking up a Champagne E34 520i from the same guy, but I have a soft spot for older Benz.

I’ve been a forum member on mbword.org & benzworld.org longer than I have been a member here and I’ve had two Mercedes in the past and I have had far more help on this forum than on the others. The Mercedes forums have been very unhelpful and It feels right to make this post here instead
The Last two pictures are the look I plan to give this car & I plan to do over the entire interior

Nice! I also have a soft spot for that chassis, but it's hard to find one in good shape for a reasonable price.

Keep us updated on your progress!

When i was looking for one, i came across a guy who had two in mint condition and when i called him back to arrange to view them, both of them had been sold. He then got back to me a few days later saying that one of his relatives had this one. I guess it payed to be patient since the other two were 230E's and had fabric seats

Nice! Love that entire generation of Benzes. They're built like tanks. Looking forward to the end result.

Haha the door shut action on that car is amazingly solid.

I completely agree. I was also looking at a W201 190E but after seeing this video, i was convinced that the W124 was what i wanted

Nice. Used to own an E200 facelift model. Really solid car. Even today good examples have a lot of presence on the road.

I also had a 2006 W211 and I find this W124 so much more solid. The interior doesn't seem that dated to me either and I'm surprised at little things this 19 year old car has. Since I've had it, i can't stop finding an excuse to drive it. As a matter of fact, i just came back from a little spin in it

jesus........... that car took some major abuse.

Im pretty sure my E90 would've been done at the water stage.
Cars these days must be like eggs or something. That merc is solid.

Last scene of the movie. I just watched that top gear video I need one of those. Modern euro cars are POS.
