Can a cop tell you to raise your windows to check for tint?

The title says it all. If you're driving with your windows down and get pulled over, can the cop tell you to raise your front windows to see if they are tinted? It happened to me the other day and I have no idea if I actually had to do it or could have refused to.

Yes, it's a lawful order, if you don't comply it's a misdemeanor...

Thanks for the answer. This was the first cop to ever really give me shit about my tinted windows. I've had cops tell me to just roll down my windows when I'm passing them by to not get ticketed and they were really cool about it. Not this guy. Oh well.

if your other windows are tinted he can then ask you to roll your front ones to check if they are compliant with the law.

this, this is the ONLY way.

If your only tinted windows are down, they cannot tell you to raise them

they can..and you can get suckered into it but it would not be "legal" haha

I had this happened before. I got pulled over and the cop asked me to roll my window up. He gave me a ticket for the tint. It pay to play....
