You can get an M3 for way less than 35k now, it is called a used car. How come according to your logic we don't see boy racers running around a dime a dozen acting like fools? It's about time BMW is making a car you can mod for a reasonable amount of money instead of requiring some tuner to come up with an expensive aftermarket option to get some real power that we get hosed for 10K+ for on the price. I applaud BMW for trying to go back to it's roots of smaller, classic design. They have totally screwed the new E92 M3 IMO. Stupid gas guzzling V8 that has 60 more HP than a Carrera and 2 more cylinders yet is only just as fast and still doesn't handle/drive as well. Brilliant!!! Great job BMW!!! A heavier car, bigger engine, more gas burned and getting beat down by a Porsche Carrera 997 with NA 6 cylinder. That is a bad direction to be going in with the M3. It's not an M5, it is supposed to be the lighter smaller nearly as badass version that has great tracking potential and abilities. This is where the 135i and hopefully soon an M1 will go back to the roots of where they should be with the 3 series. It's time to reverse the ridiculous trend of bigger + more expensive = better equation many car companies are on. Because it doesn't always. |

BMW already has a 335i that is faster and cheaper than a 535i that in turn can pretty much keep up with a more expensive 550i and much more expensive 650i, but they simply appeal to a different profile of buyer. It's the reality of almost any car company's line-up. You might as well ask why BMW makes the Rolls Royce Phantom when a 760Li is just as fast and a quarter of the price.

Who cares. I hope BMW makes a killing on these so they can sink more money into developing the next generation of 3's, 5's, Z's, etc. Its a good thing, people.

I see nothing wrong with BMW raising the bar with the release of the new 1 series. This is good news for us because BMW will make more money and will make better cars. I hope you guys don't think the new TT engine is not the only think that BMW is working at. I am sure they have future plans for all their cars as well as better engines.
PS. I almost had my 330i for 2 years now and I still enjoy driving it everyday. This is hard to say for any other car I have driven.

I think the 135i will be an almost direct competitor to the EVO and STi
just expensive enough to keep them out of most highschooler's hands, if not we'll be seeing a lot more deadly BMW crashes on the news...

The 135 will weigh some 200-300lbs less than the 335, which means it will be a little quicker. But certainly not quicker than the M3 in stock form, or quicker than an M6 even with the Vishnu piggyback. Where the 135 could own them all is handling-wise... |
