No More USGP in Indy....
That's right, motorsports fans, Indy is out of the game for now! See below....
July 12, 2007 Sincerely,Dear USGP Fan: I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has worked toward securing a Formula One event in 2008 and beyond. After my recent meetings with Formula One Ltd. CEO Bernie Ecclestone, we have mutually agreed to not schedule Formula One racing at Indianapolis in 2008. It has been a pleasure having the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis, and I hope that as we approach our Centennial Era at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, an opportunity might present itself that would allow its return. I would like to take this time to thank you for your support of Formula One and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway over the past eight years. Although the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will not be hosting a Formula One race in 2008, we are always looking to the future. With that in mind, we will have a historic motorsports announcement at 3:30 p.m. ET Monday, July 16. I want to strongly encourage you to log on to www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com to view this special event. On behalf of the Hulman-George family and the staff at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, thank you again for your patience and understanding, and I hope that you consider attending one of our events in 2008. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call at (800) 822–INDY or (317) 492–6700 if we can be of further assistance. Tony George Chief Executive Officer Indianapolis Motor Speedway

I agree, US is not ready for this type of event fan wise. There are a lot of real F1 fans who follow every race, but after attending the USGP last year I realized that there are some other racecar fans who think that every car race is NASCAR...wrong answer.

Don't worry, the administrators will move the thread to 'Off-topic" soon enough. People tend to miss it there, so I figured I would post it here for the short while it is around. Believe it or not, there are a number of road racing fans who happen to like the driving performance of BMW. Odd, I know, but nevertheless, true!

That is just sad,... I went in 2003 and was one of the best experiences in my life, I simply love F1,... too bad most americans don't really appreciate it since it is the absolute best of motorsports,....IMO.
Then they should restart the Cancun project and have an F1 race there, next to the Caribbean.

Indianapolis is the weakest track out of the entire season so it's really no big loss.
And the debacle last year didn't help matters. I certainly hope that F1 will find another home in the US. Perhaps Watkins Glen or ViR?
