It depends on the place for all those.

I worked as a valet while in high-school 16-17.
Construction just depends on the General Contractor. If you go to a subdivision that's building new homes and just ask If you can earn some extra cash by helping out with odd jobs (whether it's picking up scraps, carrying lumber), most will be glad to hire you.
At the last club I bartended at, we hired my younger cousin... though he is 18.

Anywhere... and for goodness sake... sell the 335. No 17 year old schlepping food at a restaurant should own a $50,000 car.

it helps when your parents foot the bill.

What does working at a restaurant have to do with whether or not one should own a 335? I've never understood that logic.

What I meant by that is, it's not easy being a young adult and being burdened by a large payment or debt of any kind. It's going to be tough enough to do well in college, start to establish yourself in the work force, date/marry, save for and buy a house, etc... without having massive looming debt payments.

It has nothing to do with working at a restaurant or not.

Nice hotels. I was a banquet waiter. Once you learn to carry those big round trays with fifteen plates with those silver covers on them it is a breeze. That is if you are good at service. Money was great and you get good free food. I am in construction. Unless you are very punctual and can stand getting yelled at a few times you may look elsewhere. If you are reliable and can take it, you can learn a lot for a possible future in the industry. G/L.

Restaurants, hotels, bars - hospitality industry is grueling. Tremendous headaches and anxiety, long/odd hours. Go elsewhere.

At 17 I did not know what any of the above problems were. Now, is a different story.
