Wait before you buy the cable, make sure any device you get that uses it doesn't already include one.

I didn't get any HDMI cables with the TV, they came with the DVD player. If your digital cable box can use one, the installer should plug it in for you that way.
I picked teh Sony DVD player because it was $99, and it came with the cable. The other $99 ones at Costco did not include a cable

for those w/ lcd monitors, is it normal for the screen to give off heat after awhile? like you put your hand near the screen and you can feel it giving off heat.

I was a bit surprised at the amount of heat in my TV stand after watching for a while. I didn't notice anything related to actually coming off the front of teh screen.

I got the HD tuner from TimeWarner today, it didn't come with a HDMI cable because it didn't include the port on it. Instead they gave me a big old rack of cables for the HDTV connection. It was 5 all wrapped in a single enclosure.

I didn't see a reply to your game lag, but some TVs process the signal for color, clarity, etc. This processing creates lag, but normally it doesn't matter since the audio and video is delayed by a like amount. This still holds true for video games, but the console doesn't slow down for the TV, so it is playing normally to your inputs.

My TV, Samsung DLP, has a game mode that enables some features except for those that induce this lag. You should check your TV settings to see if you have something similar.

I bought a dirt cheap HDMI cable from Amazon and have never regretted it. Last I saw, you could get a 2 m cable for 0.74 dollars. You should buy several of them to make the shipping charge worth the purchase.

this is how our house is set in TWN right after the interiors, well this is the Karaoke/movie lounge. the tv is some big Plasma Bravia with Bose Lifestyle 48 dvd system and some other bose speakers. we have the lights under the stands if not enough light.
you can see here that having the tv on wall does save quite alot of space for your other machines (dvd, ps3 etc)
i can assure you that this is not the best bang for the buck but reliability is enough for me with the bigger brands, don't mean they won't f#&k up though, but if they do you know where to go to get the problem solved.
