335i to 996tt? NE1 with experience?

I have thought about this...not gonna happen right away.

My 335i is FBO+meth+n2o, keep in mind performance is a big deal to me.

I will never be the fastest out there, but faster than a lot.

I can do any wrenching myself.

Does anyone have any first hand experience.

Yes, I would still mod the 996, then the question of whether to go tip or 6spd.

I have an auto right now and it's great in traffic.

6 speed is the way to go especially if you want to mod the heck out of it.

I have no prior experience, but it sounds like a good progression for the HP junkie. Your 335 is probably just as fast as a stock 996tt if you can put the power down. As others stated I would go with the 6 speed if you plan to do some modifications (lets be honest, you will).

The fact that you can do work on the car is the only reason this change would make sense in my head. The 911 will be older and, by virtue of its age, will likely require more maintenance than your comparatively new 335. For more major engine work the motor will need to be pulled, so keep that in mind. Parts will be more expensive. Sounds like you are confident with a wrench, so I say go for it.

These are personal things but I think you will be disappointed with the interior (layout is awful and the "tech" is abysmal, and the exterior isn't all that attractive either IMO.

Therein is the only "issue" Will I really feel like it's an upgrade worth the extra cost? Or should I just hang onto the 335 for ALOT longer.

I generally don't mind the "low tech"

I mean I sought no nav in the 335i. Seems like a retrofit stereo deck with bluetooth would be the only "needed" thing for me.

That is a personal decision. If you feel like you will want more power and to be able to put it down effectively, then the 911tt is a great "upgrade."

I own both, 6 speed is the only way to go in a 996tt.

Well, they are totally different. The 996 I bought has tons of mods also. It's a car that fvd built, full exhaust, tune, big turbos, intercoolers, brembo brake kits all around and Bilstein coil overs.

k26/24...apparently old school and laggy it the porsche world, but it pulls like a train.

I promised my wife, no power mods for a year. Its an fvd stage 4 plus intercoolers and headers. Seems like it could run a hair more boost though.
