Check this 1991 bmw m5 debut promotional video (its a must!), the video clip always gives me goosebumps making me go out and buy a e34!

Excellent, timeless design. Manages to look imposing and menacing without any of the cosmetic add-on shortcuts of today (eyebrows immediately come to mind).

I remember when this car first came out my parents were among the first to buy a 535i where we lived. I fell in love with that car. And when I started driving I inherited that car as my first car and that's I took with me to college. And I was rear ended on 405 and it was totaled. That literally saved my life.

I like the part in the M5 video where the host says, "And always equipped with a manual gearbox, because the M5 is a driver's car."

Yeah, I quite liked my old E34 525i Tourer... but when it comes to 5-er's my heart lays with the E28, still my favourite from all the BM's I've had.

That M5 video should be required viewing at M HQ.
Straying a bit to far from that philosophy. I think the MT comment is no longer as valid since DCT's and even many autos are just as good performance wise, but the hand-built, tailored to the driver message needs to be carried... |

My dad had a 1991 Oxford green 525i that he bought 2nd hand in 1998 when I was 3 or 4. I remember the first time stepping into it (he had a E36 320i before), beige leather, a shiny BMW logo on the steering wheel, the AMAZING wing mirror knobs, and just how damn good the thing looked. I always wanted to have it after him but alas it just had too many mechanical problems and he got rid of it in 2009. I still want one though, the E34 M5 3.8 is one of the classic BMWs I want to own one day. Just a piece of automotive artwork.

Loved my '95 E34........everyone thought it was new, even though I had owned over 10 years. It's likely I would still have it today, except a hit and run driver smashed into it an totaled it.
